I would like pictures of the spur gear and the clutch bell already on the truck as I want to know if mine is right or not. I'd assume the clutch bell gear would be centered in the spur gear but it's not. I even took the clutch back out and re-checked my flywheel tightness.

Thanks.

Will this do it for you, Its just a pict I had laying around.

Thanks, exactly what I wanted. I have a black metal bushing and not a brass bushing though. (X SS) But my gears are where yours are, which is what I was concerned with.

Thats fine. This was a picture when the truck was stock. I have now switched to the black bushing as its steel. The brass bushings wear very quickely.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as the gears are compleatly meshing. If they arnt you can shim them some, but you need to watch as if you shim this cb out to far it will rub against the brake disks and bind.

I must say, this is the best. Answers when you need 'em. This is what is going to keep me hooked into the hobby. (was flying airplanes 10 years ago and missed the radio control hobbies) This Savage X SS is the first I've ever owned, been taking pictures as I build. Been making the mods as I build also. Thanks again.

What I do is remove flywheel and add shims so alignment is better. A little time consuming but worth it IMO.

How do you shim behind the flywheel to move it forward? I don't see how the collet could take it. (ie the diameter of the shim versus crushing the shim (distorting))

I had a tech at hpi even tell me it's ok to do that. But it turned out I had installed the wrong pilot nut which was very short.

I'm using the 49T Steel Spur from HPI, and Its pretty much dead center on the bell.. but I didn't install it. I bought it installed with the steel spur and vented bell
