Well now that winter is right around the cornor I'm checking my savage over and I have been thinking about gears and things for the diff's one is should I really upgrade to the aluminum diff cups and doing oil? Also I am thinking about a diff locker (posi) yes or no? Any other upgrades to the diff's would be great. Thanks in advance.

Aluminum diff cups are a great choice, I would stay away from the locker (unless you only drive on very loose dirt only) they could cause more problems for you .. other then that shim the diffs to eliminate the slop..

i would definatly upgrade to the aluminum diffs and shim them and yes use diff fluid inside the diff and grease on the pinnion gear you can use diferant weight diff fluid in the front and rear to help with handling.I don't like lockers for racing or bashing but thats just my oppinion

depending if u have a X SS like u said in your sig they have alloy diff already in them as stock

I was thinking about lockers too (maybe just for the back) what problems do they cause? My truck I drive pulls all 4 wheels in 4 wheel drive and i know it makes it hard to steer on pavement, it makes the front end jump when turning, idoes it do the same thing in these?

thanks

It would make the rear end slide around. I used a spool in the front on my race 18r for the road course and didn't really like it. Like SJ said, it would only work in loose dirt. It would act just like your full size truck.

I Just Got The New Aluminium Diffs With 4 Spiders And Shimes What Grease Is The Stuff To Use?
