Front engine seal?

Hey guys what seals the front of the engine? Is it the bearing or is it something else?

I'm not so sure about that. To my understanding the seal is actually mostly done at the area just behind the front bearing. This is between the crank and the crankcase, where the crank gets larger. The tolarence between the crank and crankcase is very tight and when the motor is spinning the 30,000RPM or whatever it is actually sealed there by a thin oil seal that is between them. The front bearing is recomended for replacement each gallon due to wear in the bearing which could cause the crank to wear against the crankcase causing the oil not to seal because the serfaces arnt smooth anymore and the gap has largened because of them wearing against each other.

Has anyone heard this?

No, but it makes sense to me. You can't have a perfect seal between the two items without oil. Sure seems like a short life span for the bearing though.

To my understanding fuel/oil will seap to the front bearing which lubracates it. There is a hole up there which runs up by the carb in the crankcase which the carb creats vacume that is supposed to suck the excess fuel/oil back into the engine threw the hole. This hole can get clogged and then will let oil seap past the front bearing.

Again this is why they recomend front bearin replacement because if that is worn and has slop it will sear the sealing part out of the block then there is no more or very little seal left which then the engine will leak all the time or worse than usual.
