I use the losi on the front and integy piggy-backs on the back on my race truck. I don't use the coversion for the front, it limits the travel and makes the truck a little stiffer for "flat tracking". There's more travel in the rear to keep the front on the ground and for handeling. I use 32 1/2wt oil in the front lsts and 25wt in the rear. As for the freestyle truck I use lst on the front with the coversion because you want travel for freestyle and HPI treaded on the rear. 30wt in the front and 25wt on the rear for that truck. Springs are also just as important. I use 1 black (stiff) and 1 green (med) on each side for the rear. Keep playing with yours till you come up with the handeling your looking for. Don't be afraid to try something cuz if it sucks you can take it off.

Thanks for the info bud i ran losi shocks on the front before didnt see much differance from the stock shocks running 1 blue 1 purple spring on each side of front never tried msr8's thanks

They really don't work much differant. I started out trying them because I was sick of bending the stock ones, and found they worked as good and didn't bend as easy. BTW on the truck without the conversion I have to run limit chains-and the look cool as crap too.

I currently run the MSR8s and I have been let down from the start. First running all 8 is way to stiff, then running 4 is not stiff enough. The shocks really get in the way of other stock components like the steering arm and the upper A-arm. Also like I've heard about many integy shocks, my MSR8s immediately started leaking from the o-rings. I am just waiting until I come up with the cash to get the LST conversion.

If you want the MSR8s though, I'll sell em to ya cheap 🙂

Thanks alot for your opinion thats what i was thinking they look real cool though
i think I'm going with the Losi shocks Thanks!

good choice!!! I'm going to be doing the losi shock conversion on my savage x, but i found out you have to have the old style 25 a-arms to do it so i gotta get those first!!

Ok stupid question here,,,, whats the difference in the msr8's & the msr4's

The MSR8s are alot bigger and beefier. If I remember correct the MSR4s are about the same size as the stock savage shocks.

You guys might want to wait on shocks. HPI is coming out with a big bore set that will blow your mind. They are like the HPI aluminums but the size of the msr8. They have the spring conversion on them like I run but the kicker spring is a dual rate. So you can run 2 different color spring packs and run dual rate springs on the pack. They will be sweet if they go into production.

hpi is really following the market place.

They seem to give the customers what they want.

sounds like nice shocks, I like to buy hpi when possible.

Hey trix, Mega has a very good point as far as the new HPI big bores. When they come out is the question. As of now I have been doing alot of research and I am going to go with the losi shock conversion but I don't know whether I will be set on the muggy shocks or the lst2 shocks. Will test them both. The muggy shocks have a 1/4 in. shorter shaft than the lst2 which may be better for racing. I have both so I will be testing soon

I did the lst conversion,it was such a massive weight gain i took it back to stock because the extra weight just killed my speed, like i said before it looks kool but theres a price to be paid.

wow, it adds that much weight eh? i've been trying to keep my sav x as light as possible so maybe another choice for me would be better!!
thanks for your views of how the shocks worked for u!!!

the hpi big bore's sounds awsome!! hope they come out in the near future!!!

Thanks windjammr, that helps me alot. I am running a race savage so I am definitely not looking for alot of extra weight. Guess I will keep looking.
