3 speed transmision part #

Hi there,

I own the X SS model but I am confused with part numbers that will fit my model.

I want to add the 3 speed trans and also the #77065 gears .

Could you please tell me which of the following is the right # for my savage :

87257
87218
87220

I am asking because I read somewhere that #77065 gears will not fit all gear boxes and transmisions.

Go with part number 87257 and also the high speed gear set (#77065). The high speed gear set will work with all Savage 3-speed trannys because all you are doin is replacing the third gear set. As for the assembled 3-speed (#87257), that one comes with the newly redesigned tranny case (extra strength in certain areas) and it is also an esay access tranny case. Where you only have to remove 6 screws to access the gears. Which makes it a whole lot easier to make shift point adjustments. Or, you can just buy the unassembled 3-speed kit (#87220). The kit 3-speed is cheaper so you can use the extra money on other hop-ups. The reason I suggest the kit version is because you already have the easy access tranny case.
