Rummaging around in the loft today and came across this, or what's left of it. Think it could be an XTM Mammoth ST. Remember paying £10 for it at a boot fair about 4-5 years back. Thought it would be good for somit. Cleaned it up and made the rear alloy chassis brace out of something I had laying around. The 2nd gear on the centre box was some sort of 3D printed thing, hollow on the inside and was completely shagged.

Well been doing some research and at 1st thought it was an MT, but now convince it is the stadium truck. not sure what to do with it now as the chances of getting a replacement for the stripped gear looks to be near impossible. Well looks like it will go back in the loft for the time being.
It should look like this :-

Ya that looks like an XTM ST, not a bad vehicle but parts are pretty scarce these days, I have an XTM Monster MT and it is way different.....
HI Jam 1, long time since we've chatted. Yes been researching it abit more, and yer your right it the ST and not the MT. Right as well on parts for it, rare as hell. It was sold back in early 2000s and was know for being the fastest 8th scale at the time , size wise it is about the same size as the Savage XL in length and width. Pretty big for the time. It was sold as the XTM by Ripmax who went bust in I think 2023. In Europe it was also sold under the Great Vigor brand. All the parts are interchangeable which makes parts finding abit easier, shame the part numbers are different. Funny thing is i chucked it in the loft when I realised I had no chance of getting the 65T 1st gear but did a web search last night and low and behold my local model shop had 1 in stock. So now the build starts.
Have also managed to pick up the upper deck for the electric stuff, a receiver box, a fuel tank, front shock mount & steering servo mounts. And have just bought a 2nd hand complete diff from a XTM XT2, just hope it fits, looks the same to me but won't know for sure till it arrives.
Should start to look bit more like what it should soon, well I hope it will.
Must need my head testing, LOL, but I do love these old rare vintage nitros, would be nice to put it back to it's former glory and I do like a challenge.

@guinnessdublin
Don't want to do that bud, still got 12 of those things already remember. Done about everything that can be done to a Savage over the years. Time for sommit else, And no I ani't getting rid of them be for you ask. Goner be abit weird tho working on somit else. Have had to read a manual for the 1st time that doesn't have the letters HPI on it

Ok Guys, Got another unknown buggie for you to shed the light on. I have no idea what is one is, but I bet someone on here will. Got given this one, looks like it will be salvageable. Got a spare mill, radio gear & wheels but as you can see it has a busted servo saver so I will need a replacement part, also the spur gear looks like it's seen better days. I know the spoiler had Hyper 7 on it, but it ain't one of those.
I know my Savages inside out, but a complete novice when it comes to buggies, it's an 1/8 scale, that's all i know. So come on peps any help would be very appreciated.
Hedging a bet it could be a Kyosho Inferno, not sure what model.

@Vinni

Evening Vinni, don't now yet, got to find the rest of the parts needed to finish it 1st. Only spare mills I have at the moment are:-
1... HPI Nitrostar s25 (4.1cc) from from an old Savage
2...That new Kingtair .32 (5.2cc)
3...Thunder Tiger .28 (4.6cc)
All 3 run well with great pop. Don't want to use the Kingtair on it, maybe will put the S25 in it. The Thunder Tiger is abit of a Frankenstein mill. Bought it used from eBay, supposedly in good working order, well that was not the case as this mill has an internal OWB, only thing was it was missing, yer great I know. But modded in internals and fitted an OS starter shaft so that it now uses a external 12mm OWB. It did have and still does have great compression tho. Last time I ran it, which was on a bench I couldn't get a good tune on it. Having carb trouble with it, think could be wrong needles in it as had to make a good carb from two. Only carbs I have played with and know are the ones that come on HPI/Force/Kingtair mills & the 3 needle K series carbs which I ain't to keen on. Not got a clue on the one on this.
On another note finally tracked that UPS package down and yes I now have 2 Motorsaver filters for the Savages. So If you want 1 still, PM me over the weekend and see if we can come to some arrangement.

Update on my XTM ST.

So made some progress on the XTM Stadium Truck. Man parts for this are very hard to find, Gave up trying to source the lower front arms & CVD drive shafts. Have had to mod a set of rear arms for the front which wasn't to hard but has made the track at the front 20mm wider than the back, no big issue really, drive shafts will have to be cut & shut using the CVD's from an XTM XT2 and the 2 ends from a front centre shaft, again no big issue, have had to do this before. managed to get most of the other parts either new or secondhand.
Front end is now complete, top deck & servos fitted, Battery box is in the post. found a new 65T 1st gear for the gearbox plus alot of the smaller parts at my local model shop. Sussex Model Centre. These guys have boxes of rare old stock parts for many models. fuel tank fitted, new front centre drive shaft in, a new pair of shock tower as front was missing & rear was bent. Wheel are a set I had kicking around and I think suit it well. Engine mounts are in the post as these are pacific to the XTM MMT & MST. Found the original 2 speed clutch bell at a model shop in Melbourne Australia, that will take awhile to arrive.
At least it is starting to look like what it should & not what I started with as the photos in my 1st post shows.

Looks gud that bro 👍

Got abit more done to the XTM MST today. Engine & exhaust now fitted. Moved the fuel tank forward abit as was abit close to the exhaust in my opinion.
Just waiting for the battery box to turn up then I can get the radio gear fitted. Then it will down to sorting the CVD's out, need to lengthen them about 60mm to make an overall length of 175mm end to end.
Will need to source some better shocks but the ones fitted will do for now.

Looking amazing mate as I thought it would end up like in your hands!👍
Well you know me Adie, I do like a clean model. Hate to think what it has cost me so far, just know it's a pretty penny.
Good job I'm single as I think a misses would have divorced me by now. LOL. I spunk so much money on all these models, think I must need my head testing.🤣🤣👍

lol just love your commitment to the hobby & great to see you contributing to the forum with your wealth of knowledge you have been missed on here matey! 👍🏻
As they say you can’t take your money with you, so why not if it puts a smile on your face! 😂

Thanks for the compliment Adie. 👌👍
And how right you are on not being able to take it with you, I think money burns a hole in my pocket as they say, and with the money I spend on this hobby which I do love I couldn't afford to buy a new pair of trousers with new pockets anyway.🤣😊

Well finally got the XTM MST finished, it's now got 4 wheel drive and original front lower wishbones so there is no need to mod the CVD's. All radio gear in and working. Was thinking about a bodyshell for it and seeing as there is zero chance of getting a good condition original one, which I must say I don't like the look of anyway. I sat a Savage XL GTXL-6 Kingcab on it and I think it looks pretty good, just waiting for some mounting post to arrive. The body is the same width as the plastic side guards on the chassis, so will beable to add some body mounts there which will be good.
Also got the Frankenstein buggy together and got to say she looks pretty sweet, dropped a spare S25 mill on it. Although it's a bitser being made from various different models, whoever originally put it together did a pretty good job. Need to replace the drive gear as it ain't great. Managed to find one the same on eBay so that's on it's way & have bought a cheap buggy shell for it.
Just started my next project, Another XTM but this time it's a XTM XT2.

Ok well it's been about a month since I got this Frankenstein buggy. Done alot to it since then. Fully rebuilt and running. It turned out to be a Carson Specter Two also known as a Carson CY2 in Europe. It was on sale around 2010 so it's another vintage model with parts harder to find than the XTM MST I've been working on.
It turned out to be almost original once I found a manual for it to study. The exceptions being the truggy rear lower wishbones which I still don't know what they are from, the front shocks, the front wheel hexs which are widened to sort of compensate for the wider rear track caused by the truggy arms. Also it has a 64T spur gear when it should be a 46T. Have had to use a Modified HPI Savage diff as the centre gearbox as the new spur gear I got which was a Hong Nor XT-07 had a 8mm centre bore were as the original was only 6mm, so the output drive cups wouldn't fit, they were like a prick in a bucket. This started out as an easy mod but turned out to be a real ball-ache as the Savage diff was to to wide to fit between the gearbox bulkheads by 8mm, also the bearings wouldn't fit. Anyway after much grinding and filing of the new spur gear I got it all to fit. All up and running now with an HPI S25 mill with great pop. These models came with a 3.5cc, 4.1cc or a 5.2cc all being Force mills, so this model is now technically a Carson Specter Two Sport V25 as that's the model which came with the 4.1cc(.25) mill.. The body shell is one of those cheap ZD-Racing Pirate3 one off eBay for 18 quid. Spoiler, Wheels and other parts came from my parts bin. This whole build has cost me about £30, which ain't to bad. Another vintage RC get a new lease of life.

Anyway here's what the finished model looks like.

Thats looks well nice few flashes o colour here n there always do the trick sharp that bro too job 👍👊

@Vinni
Yep must say bro, i think it turned out quite well. still want to get the proper spur gear for it as the 62T one is causing problems with the engine mount as it's on it's max travel limits on the chassis. Have managed to get the gear mesh spot on but it's all at it's max in the chassis motor mount slide holes. Now it has a Savage diff as the centre diff I can use an Arrma 46T spur gear as these have 8mm centre bores to match the output cups of the Savage diff.
Should have the XTM MST finished soon. Got the body mounts sorted now I think. Found a set meant for the Axial SCX10 on AliExpress that with a little modification fit nice and will keep the Savage GTXL Kingcab sitting low on the chassis to give it the look I want. Have bought a new clear one from Wheelspin Models just waiting for it to arrive. Not sure what colour to paint it yet but thinking along the line of Bright Yellow with black wheel arches. Plain and simple but had a Truckzilla painted the same and I thought it looked superb.
Then it will on to the XTM Mammoth MT, which I haven't even looked at since i bought it.
Oh and just remembered got the XTM XT2 to finish, which I'm waiting for a pair of front lower wishbones to arrive from the states to complete.

Well you have certainly been busy mate & the end result looks spot on good work as ever! 👍🏻
Have you tried RC Scrapyard for any parts needed, he maybe able to help out?
Tell me after all your effort you are going to take it out for a blast & see how it handles aren’t you mate?

@guinnessdublin
Morning mate. Yes have been abit busy lately, LOL, Still got 3 builds to go then I think that will have to be it for awhile. Can't move in my flat for Nitros, may have to sell a couple of the Savages to make space.
As for Simon at RC Scrapyard I use him quite alot, as he is only 20 mins up the road from me it is well handy. Was up at his place last weekend getting some parts for the XTMs, he has loads of spares, alot which aren't listed on ebay so I just phone him up and ask if I can come up and have a rummage through his boxes. You never know what you want till you see it.
He's also does things like pull-start rebuilds & engine tunes, which is great as the other week dropped the pull-start for one of my SH.28 mills and you guessed it, out shot the coil spring, these mills have the 32mm centre backplate and not the 27mm like the Force mills so pull starts are dearer and not quite so easy to find.
Well I did originally get this to build up cheap to go bashing with, but seeing as how well it has turned out it might just get a little run a round the park. Like I said earlier, it's a vintage buggy, with production of the sport model which is the nitro version finishing around 2012-14. So tihs old girl is atleast 12 years old now and you don't see many coming up for sale it will probably just sit on the shelf as would hate to bust sommit on it. Have got a new SH.21(3.5cc) that I might fit, got sent it by mistake it was meant to be a SH.28 but the club I got it from either tried to rip me off or is just a dim-wit. It came from China but the purchase was in US dollars. Had all sorts of issuses with the seller but in the end got a large partial refund so it end up costing £79, so all good in the end. Bit under powered for the Savages so will go on this buggy probably.
It won't be going anywhere until I find a smaller spur gear as the 62T on it mated to a 15T clutch bell gives it a ratio of 4.13 which would probably make it better for drag racing than bashing. Hoping I will be able to fit an Arrma 46T mated to a 14T clutch, which I am hoping will be an easy mod now that it has the Savage diff in the centre as all the spurs I see have 8mm centre bosses which is the same as the diff output drive on the Savage.
