Hi,
I bought Hot Racing 17mm hex conversion, but the wheel nuts don`t fit. I tried to put the wheels and to tighten the nuts, but they do not tighten enough and the wheel stays loose. When I use force to tighten nut, I injure the hex. I read on the Hot Racing page that for use with wheels besides the Warlock 17mm hex hub wheels, the support ring may be either flipped over or removed altogether, with no consequence to performance or vehicle track width.
You can see what I'm talking about.

Where is the problem?

Guessing it may depend on the wheel. I never ran those hubs, but the "support ring" is a kind of a spacer which takes up some of the room. But if the back of the wheel isn't thick enough, that may not make a difference. Might have to try to find a washer to put on there to take up the extra room before putting on the nut. Guessing the nut is bottoming out on the cap? Could maybe try different 17mm nuts. I had that happen with some aftermarket ones I bought, the nut was bottoming out on the shaft sticking out due to how I modified them to make them fit better. In my case, I was able to drill a hole in the nut for the shaft to stick out, but with yours, if the nut is bottoming out on the hub itself, that would be hard to drill out properly without destroying it.

What you need to do is change the captive nuts you are using for a set of standard open 17mm nuts with a 1mm thread pitch. 99% of all RCs use this thread, but in say that I have one set of 17mm nuts with 1.7mm course threads. and don't fit any hubs I have. I like to use the oxygen hardened type over the standard ally type. Not to sure what oxygen hardening is but this nuts are alot stronger and the threads don't distort like the standard ally version.
