I'm in the middle of converting my savage X to brushless and have gone down the alza cd route Using a hobao hyper As nitro truggy center diff.

Looking to order a motor and ESC today but unsure what to go for.

Would the max8 2200kv combo be a good choice? Looking to run 4-6s

And what pinion do I need to get for it? Think my spur is 47 tooth on the cd.

Might want to get a 2000kv or less. 2200kv is pretty high rpm for 6S. I know the mmx/2200kv sensored motor in my flux runs pretty warm on 6S. On 4S, the motor was fine, wouldn't get much past 110F after an extended run without a fan, but on 6S with a fan, it floats around 150F after about 6 minutes. Also pulls a lot of amps.

I'm about to build similar using 1700kv and 48T hyper diff in alza centre diff mount. I plan to run 4s or 5s and have pinions from 11T upwards. I think 5s will be the sweet spot.

Note that most ESCs cannot autodetect 5S lipos voltage. I had to go 6s because of this.

Thankfully Hobbywing 150A WP8BL150 escs can be manually set to 5S using program card.

My conversion was more suited for 4s.with the 43t diffs,I went for a cheap 120a combo, and it was plenty.

I went with EZRUN Brushless 4274 SL brushless Motor - 2200kv Black
And max 8 esc with 4s lipos
Alza racing center diff with 1 million diff oil.
13t pinion power and set up is great.

Hi...The HPI transformation pack is the best approach, you get all that you want and they can be had for $140 in case you look around on the web. I run a Xerun 80A with Tacon 2150KV in my Flux fabricate and it extremely smooth and quick, and stays exceptionally cool even overgeared with a 22T pinion. Better arrangement then the MMM/2200 IMO and can be purchased for $115 new by and large. Changing over back will take a little work since you dismantling the entire truck.
