Is anyone able to tell me how to take this off

Most likely remove one of the TVPs. Pretty sure I've done it without that though.

first off remove the transmission from the vehicle , you will have to take off one of the tvp plates, then take apart the gearcase .... is something wrong inside it?

I think so
Because when I push my truck forward it’s kind of stiff
Almost like it’s resisting to go forward when pushed
So I thought I’d open it up and look at it

I’ve removed the screws that hold this aluminium case together
It’s loose but I don’t know / can’t get the housing out of the section
It’s like the dog bones are holding it in place

The dogbones do not hold it in place, the chassis rails do that job.... as for it being stiff I would say most likely bad gear mesh on the spur and clutch bell or the brakes dragging......

One question I have to ask, did you get a manual for this rig? how about the papers on that integy trans case? instructions are going to go a long way to helping you figure out things.....

Did you remove the two screws holding it to the motor plate?

Erm no ?

I got it if someone to be honest who didn’t know much about it ,
It was given to him from his friend

No bar at the bottom holding it, only the screws on the side (rig)

No bar, there is two tabs on the back of the transmission that have screws mounting it to the motor plate. I see one of the tabs in your picture, behind the TVP..

flip the rig upside down , there are 2 screws at the case holding it down as X has said, ya gotta look and analyze things a bit, and it is way easier to remove one of the chassis plates to get the trans out seeings as you have little knowledge on this rig.....

I didn’t know about removing the chassis plate to take it out , Ive dove if and managed to remove it

Thanks guys in this info, as for bar and screw at bottom, defo no - and explains why... there is a snapped screw in one of the holes
Bars are only for the engine

All cogs look fine , no blunt teeth or anything
But could you tell me what this part is ?
Is it the reverse module ??

If it is , if I pull this metal arm or push it in, is it suppose to only allow rotation of the cog one way or the other way ??
If so then mine is not doing that , pulled out or pushed in my cog lets me turn clockwise or anti clockwise image.jpgimage.jpg

Just opens this up
Is the part meant to be like this or is it snapped ?
Pointing at it with a screw driver

yes that is the HPI Reverse module, there are gears (cogs) inside and that lever moves one of them into and out of mesh with the others thus allowing you to have reverse..... it will still allow the shaft to go clockwise or anticlockwise when it is out of the truck.....

I still say your gear mesh is/was a bit tight or the brakes were dragging and that was causing the drag you were feeling
when your bell to spur mesh is correct you will be able to spin the gears easily yet still have a tight enough mesh to not strip gears...

Thank you guys for your help on this one.

Gave it all a quick clean on the inside, so much black dust (best way to describe it) and put it all back together.
Just need to screw it back into the chassis.

The big gear mesh seems to be rotating a little better, and the reverse when pulling and pushing is also working a lot better - may be it some how came out of position slightly ?
