Hey guys, I have been looking for some parts and came across a set of X Spede rear hub carriers. They look beefy and CNC machined. Anyone have any experience with their parts? I see that they offer other parts for the Savage and from the pic's look pretty cool. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

They are almost a recolored copy of the older style Integy rear hub carriers. The hardware included is even the same.

Give them a shot and let us know what you think!

Yea I say go for it and see what happens. I like the black, it's sharp. Look like good quality

Well I had some time tonight as well as an itch to do some wrenching! I went ahead and ordered those x-spede rear hubs and man are they nice, well machined, & beefy. The tolerance was so snug on the bearings that I poped the first one back out and put a light coating of oil around the outside(aluminum and steal don't play well together). I also worked on other items that I'm stoked to test out as soon as northwest PA weather permits! Getting some cabin fever. Enjoy the pic's and I'm going to jump over to the XL section to post the rest of the build I completed tonight. Oh, you may notice the adjustable upper arm, I had to scratch using them as they rub against the big bore springs. Not sure how I'm going to make them work?

Mine with the same thing with the adjustable uppers, you'll need to space the shock out a little, those look pretty nice. Glad they worked out

I tried finding these again yesterday as my L brackets I made bent on me on my flux and I figured why bother making them again when I could just do it right and get carriers like my X. I couldn't find these though and ended up spending $55 on a set of integy's like my X has. I don't recall them being that expensive... but I ordered the HD integy ones as I think the older integy ones won't fit with the large super HD axle cups.

I wonder if the X Spede ones work with the super HD cups.

That is about $20 more than I paid for mine when I bought the integy hd ones

I just found the email when I got my first set in 2015, $28.99 shipped. The ones I ordered on amazon yesterday were 49.46 shipped. Thought it was $55... maybe that was ones I found on ebay and went with amazon instead.

Either way, $21 more is a considerable bump in price. Will be nice if HPI starts cranking out parts again so people stop gouging us to keep our savage's alive.

It would sure be nice if all these companies quit price gouging. When I bought them for my past savage maybe 6 months ago I got some off eBay for $28 shipped. They shipped from one of the main online retailers, maybe it was amain. Either way it was a good deal

Mine came from liquid rc and were $33.88 w/free shipping. RC express was also selling them. Both companies must have sold out quick on eBay? By the looks of the inner hub there appears to be enough room for the HD cups. Do you have an outside dia. of the cup? I can check the clearance when I get home Friday

No, I don't. I'll try to remember to measure them when I get the integy's. They fit in the stock axle carriers... so they may fit regardless, but the older non-hd listed integy ones say they are specifically for the X/SS/25 savage which never ran the super HD cups.

Somwone on here not long ago said the super hd cups didn't work with the integy carriers, BUT I can't remember if it was the normal or hd integy ones.

I know they work fine with the HD integy ones as that's what I have on my X with the super HD cups/bones.

Are the super HD cups bigger in diameter than the wheel bearing? In my fourth pic you can see the inside of the hub, which is machined bigger than the bearing. You may have to zoom in.

I don't know, but I'll definitely take some photo's of it before installing them on the truck when I get them later this week.

This is all I have from when I installed them 2 years ago on my X:

Doesn't really show much. I'll take a photo from the rear of the truck and from the cup side when installing the new ones.

Looking at that last photo, the cup must get really close to rubbing the carrier when the shock is under full compression. That's with it fully extended. Actually... I'm an idiot. The distance there won't move at all as the cup is in a fixed location in relationship to the carrier.

Got a few photo's of the install I did tonight with the integy HD carriers:

Good deal, have any pics with the wheels on? Was looking at doing this to mine to for the width. Same time I don't, because I don't feel like tearing it completely apart to change the diff cups to lol

I only went with the wide axles because I tried running traxxas geode rims, which I think are 1/2" offset, but I kept snapping the HPI 17mm wheel nut rim off. But, to go with standard offset wheels/tires, I had to widen it or the inside of the tire rubbed on the big bore shocks when turning, a lot. Granted, that was when I had the "hpi suspension conversion", which I think allowed for a tighter turning radius. I removed the kit in favor of stock suspension, but didn't try replacing the long shaft wheel axles with the short ones again.

Even with the wider axles on it with standard wheels, it doesn't feel all that wide and is relatively tippy when turning. The trenchers I run are the standard 3.8's, not the wider X type. I got them used to try them out, I was afraid they would be too much tire for me, but I liked them. I got the same ones for my brushless revo for Christmas from my wife.

I had the tires/wheels on the right on it before the trenchers:

The trenchers added a little bit more cushion, which has been working out really well and the grip really well on grass, dirt but seem to be holding up ok to concrete skate park bashing.

I also have 2.8" trenchers on my stampede 4x4. After getting those, I had to try a set on my savage!

Upgrade looks good, how 'bout that munched bearing...dang. I'm home now and just to confirm the x-spede hub carriers are machined way out past the bearing and should allow plenty of clearance for the super HD!

Wait, time out! Just looked at the pick again, the bearing isn't munched! It's the pic angle and shadow of the drive cup axle! I'm guessing i need to really look at pic's...ha

Yeah, the bearing is fine. I was just trying to get an angle on it so you could see the size of the cup in relation to the bearing. The OD of the cup is pretty much the same as the OD of the bearing, ~16mm.
