Picked up this a used savage 25 a few weeks ago so I don't have any history on it. Did a complete teardown and replaced anything that was worn. After re assembly th only thing I didn't like is the spur gear/clutch bell alignment. What's the best suggestion on how to cure this, shim flywheel? shim spur gear?

I use an "Yeah racing engine mount" they make a nice adjustable unit avalible on ebay.

It looks like you put a modern spur on your 25 that uses a slightly different offset hubs. Not a big deal just gotta aline the two.

Better check that engine mounting plate for cracks or being bent, if you notice the bell seems to be sitting at a slight up angle which tells me something is out of alignment...

It's the angle of the picture. Its in perfect alignment with the spur, just set back. No cracks or damage of any kind in the engine plate. I've ran 2 tanks through it like this and the spur shows no sign of damage so the gear mesh is good.
