Hello everyone, as title states I am new to all this. I have a flux hp and have been putting new and upgraded parts on because Every time I run the truck it breaks. It was used and prior user obviously used 6s. ATM I'm very conte t with 4. Anyway, I just started jumping the truck a couple of days ago. I have replaced stock shock oil with silicon 32.5 weight. I added the largest spacer for the springs. After my first day jumping I have shock oil around the bottom cap and the retainer cap holding the spring. Did I do something wrong? Fill too full Maybe? Or is it normal whenever jumping? My shocks do t seem to absorb as much as they did two days ago either. Also, any recommendations or upgrade advice needed for this bashing I'm completely open to suggestions and things to stay away from. I have read a ton on this forum, but certainly haven't learned everything I intend to. This truck has me in love completely. Over excited to keep bashing.

some slight leakage on plastic shocks is to be expected, as long as it is not too much you should be ok...

I would buy a couple rebuild kits just to have on hand...

Okay. Fair enough. Should I check fluid level often then? I need to do some searching for stiffer springs I think. I have another complete set of shocks I could add to make 8 on the truck, but I really wanted them as a backup and would hate to break 2 at a time instead of just one. I do have another question if allowed. I was looking into Boca bearings and they have a few different sets. Would the $60 set be sufficient for just bashing or do I need to go big or go home? I think the 60 are green seal? Want to do whatever I can to keep running smooth as possible. Probly need to research upgrade for steering and servo too. But I know bearings can be important. Thanks for the replies so far!

Just refill the shocks when you can feel slack in the piston or hear squishy sounds denoting air in the shocks...

As for the bearings just use the Fast Eddy set (see his ad on the forum), they are cheap enough and should provide good service for your rig...

Awesome. Thanks for the response. You're time and knowledge are appreciated

I found a set of bearings on ebay for my steering upgrade 10 bearings for like $4 had enough to do my 2nd savage.

Oh that's right, I saw that on a thread here when I was reading my life away just because it's all very interesting to me. There was a link, but when I went to it they were out of stock. I'll have to see if I can't find that again.

Absolutely. Thank you very much! I have one more question but it's an electronics question so should I just start a different thread in the forum related to that?

Nevermind. Reading that back it sounds pretty obvious to me. I will post in there instead. Thanks again.

My esc just started making a noise like static almost. Truck is running, but making static noise so I shut it down. Afraid to ruin it. Just bought it about a month or two ago. MM2. Not sure where to begin. Haven't seen anything about it in forums as of yet, but haven't gotten too far through them either.

If it was me I'd call castle to see what they recommend. Being its that fresh they might have you side it to them. Is it only doing that when its suppose to be making it audio tone?

No, I drove it over to myself and heard it making a static noise. I actually think the fan may have cut out during the noise as well. Now I plug batteries in and it isn't doing it, but I would hate to ruin it for over some easy solution or something. It's an expensive hobby and I'm poor! Lol. I also seem to make poor decisions when it comes to buying items for my truck like I'm a little kid. Who needs a cell phone anyway? I need parts for the savage. Hehehe

Lol i know what you mean but most kids today would want the cell phone not "need". I have the mmx and i haven't had that happen to me thankfully. I'd definitely call castle creations and pick there brain.

Will do. Thanks a lot. It's greatly appreciated! Without this forum and members like you and jam I would have already lost my mind.

Any possibility you had something in the fan on the ESC? Then got blown out alleviating it.

I will have to check that. It quit, but it may be something in there because I flipped it last time I ran it and it made the noise again until I flipped it back over so maybe that's what it is and still in there. I will check it out and let you know. Great suggestion.

Hey X thanks again for the suggestion. I think you may have been correct. I never found anything in the fan, but since I checked it hasn't made the static noise again. I'm wondering if it wasn't maybe a small pebble or something. That could probably make a very similar sound as static. Thank you

No worries. I know it has happened to me a couple times recently. If you're not careful with wire routing it's not uncommon to get the wire to hit the top of the fan sometimes too, causing noise or stoppage of the fan.

For bearings: http://www.fasteddybearings.com/

I can't for the life of me remember what I have in my savage X shocks. I have the plastic big bores that have 2 springs, a short stiff spring and a longer soft spring. However, I swapped out the soft spring for HPI hellfire white springs which are about as stiff (if not as stiff) as the short spring was. I have them stacked up. Pretty sure I'm running 60 weight oil in mine. It can take 5+ feet of air under it all day long without issue.

Sounds like you need to replace the o-rings in yours. Thicker oil will seep out less as well. Make sure to get some associated green slime to put on the shaft before jamming them in through the o-rings or your more likely to tear them:

Just a little dab on the shaft and where the o-ring sits in the shock. I've been using the same tube of that stuff for 15 years, so you don't need much.
