hello everyone ive had a savage before and loved the truck. been out of the hobby for a couple years and just recently bought a savage x 4.6 and I'm having trouble with my truck on break in at a half tank stripping the spur gear it has done this twice now. i know i got the mesh set right and it still dose it just looking to see if anyone can shead some light on this issue for me thanks lee

Are you sure you have it set not too tightly or loosely both these can take a spur out in seconds, with a plastic spur especially mesh is critical.... there should be just a tick of play in it and make sure to check it all round the gear as many plastic gears are loose in one place and tight in another.....

theres no slop between the two and it didnt seem tighter in some places seemed ok. could it be a flaw in the clutch bell?

well I would for sure inspect the teeth on the bell, may be some plastic bits in it causing problems.....also check the bearings in the bell to see if they are ok also.....

My current spur gear was so out of whack. the mesh was so tight in one spot, it ate the teeth slightly, while being as loose as i dare set it on the opposite side.

I live an hour Away from my local hobby shop, so i made it work.

This WILL come back to haunt you. If you can't make it to a hobby shop, better to just order one online.
