So I've been trying to do my homework on what I want to do to my xl . Bashing ( big air , and rippin' )
I've come up with innovative rc extended chassis
GH bulkheads
Lunsford hinge pins
Hpi big bores
Bulletproof diffs
I'll stick with the stock a-arms
Is there anything that I'm missing ?
I'm putting the order in this Friday . All help will be greatly appreciated .

its kinda hard to say whats the "ultimate" because each builder will have his/her own interpretation, favourite parts, etc.

i don't think ive seen a pic of your truck, you got one we can have a look at?

innovative rc extended chassis - IMO go with Fast Lane machine EXT TVP's (40mm or 4cm)
GH bulkheads - Can't say forsure but the stock bulk heads have lasted me 3 years
Lunsford hinge pins - Yet to break these, no comment
Hpi big bores - Aluminum or Nylon but BB's are a must IMO
Bulletproof diffs - Not a must but if you want go ahead
Stock a-arms - Good choice stay with the stockers, if you break them you can get them cheap
.

Some other things to add.

- New set of tires ??
(Proline badlands ??)
- Fail safe or a 2.4 GHz transmitter
- Sway Bars
- Go all out and mid tank that beast batman

To help you out ill provide some links 🙂

i like the idea of the innovative rc tvps. if i was doing it all over again, i would get the IRC tvps & complete mid tank set up all in 1 shot.

+1 on the IRC TVP & mid-tank kit. No offense to you FLM kids, but the IRC mid-tank is a far better design then FLM. That's why I went with a IRC set-up instead of FLM. Everything is mounted inside the TVPs with the mid-tank kit except for the battery which is mounted to the front side of the front shock tower. But, with a FLM mid-tank set-up you'd have to do the same thing.

But freddy then you take the fun out of collecting the parts waiting for them to arrive and putting it together :rcheli:

Actually you don't. If he lives in the US, he'll be waiting longer for the IRC parts to arrive. It took about 2 wks for my orders to arrive once I ordered them.

I was trying to say if you go with the irc it all comes at once but if you get the flm you have to order the mid tank plate, prc rush box mount ect ect ..

yeah, thats true. to each his own & i already have done the flm way.

ive taken some long looks at the irc tho and the radio box & mid-tank plate that are designed to fit and bolt right up to the tvps are what really caught my eye.

99.99999% of guys doing the ext lcg conversion is lookin' to add the mid tank. i like how IRC saw that need and designed good parts to fit together and look and work professional.

again, I'm not calling one better than the other, just saying i like a lot of what i see when i looked at the irc kit, i think this dude is makin a good choice for his model.

I like IRC design. I also like to keep my money and warranty in the US and not deal with lame shipping issues. SO, 50/50 on that one. If you can bend or break one or the other you hit something all wrong...

I'm lovin my IRC set-up so far. I haven't had a chance to do any hard bashin on it yet cuz I haven't gotten the motor tuned right. Which is gonna be a real chore with a lot of lookin and listenin. Once I do get a good hard days use out of it, I'll let you know how it holds up here and in my build thread.

This is my xl

Yeah sorry , don't know why it double posted.

Motor saver - Great choice
Cen pipe - Depends on what mill you have now, if it's the K5.9 you good
Hitec 7950 steering - Savage only needs 150+ oz in to turn not sure why you need 403 oz in
Maxamps 1600 mah receiver battery - Good choice
Battery level Indicator - If you get a Spektrum it has a built in batt level indicator on the handset
Reverse - HOW LAZY CAN YOU GET (joking 😀)
New era roll bar - One wrong jump and it lands belly up the bar is totaled
New era skid plate -
Dubro fuel line - any line will work, just make sure you add extra when you cut 🙂 (leave it as long as you can for as long as you can)
Integy coiled line protector - Not a must but ok
Axial fuel filter - Must
Integy tank guard - IMO not the best thing, if you hit the guard it will rack the bank either way
Hpi goliaths on tremors - Iv never ran them before .
Wheelie bar - good to have
Ofna tank pull - make one for free 2 zip ties and about 4" of fuel line
Gh cooling head - Never ran it but iv heard good things about the nova colling head
Hpi hd engine mount - never ran it but for $50 and 10mm think it should be a tank
This week double big bores - Not a must but you can try (try with 4 then with 8
Swaybar kit - Just got mine, seem to work nice
Lunsford hinges - Still running stock from day one 93 years ago)
Bulletproof diffs - not a must but ok

List

Yeah the 7950 is overkill I had a different hitec think it was 6945 , but I figure 7950 is a beast . And it was $99
New era roll bar has saved me a few times , bent the rear at the shock mount , and just bent it back .
I beat the hell out of it , it's just clean in these pics lol.
New era skid is killer.
I just have the 5.9 now that's why I got the head and engine mount. I ordered the cen pipe because the picco , modd , pipe are next spring. Just a cheap way to try to keep the engine cooler. I already have the clutch shoes , springs and nova head for it . The goliths are heavy but they seem indestructible , I've gotten big air on pavement and run on ashphalt and concrete for 2 years.
I just ordered some rims from blue groove not sure which tires I want , I'm thinking pins. I'll be switching them bAck and forth. Also got a set of phaltlines on blast but haven't used them yet.

The hitec 5645MG is fine, 168 oz in at 6.0v $45-$55 depends on what savings code you have and the shipping..

DG, i just ordered some badlands yest. for my blue groove rims. I'll let you know next week how they work out. I actually have 2 1/2 sets (10 rims) of the blue groove rims. And here's some helpful info for you about blue groove. Don't get their 17mm hexes specifically designed for use with their dual offset rims. they won't fit the XL or Flux axles. I bought a set and without ALOT of grinding and filing, they don't fit. Also, the hole the pin goes through won't be covered by the hex in the rim, so it would have to be secured another way. I just gonna use the stock alum. 17mm hexes which fit nice and snug in the rim hexes. The plastic ones that come with the rims aren't even worth taken out of the platic bag they come in. I used those temp. so I can set-up the suspension and the pin pushed thru the plastic hexes when I tightened the rim down.
