I looked into injection molding... anywhere from $3000-$6000 in tooling cost, and then maybe $3-$5 per part after that.... soooo that is out of the question haha.

I am going to try to make a silicone mold off of the prototype, and then experiment with a couple different types of plastic. I am going to shoot for one that is similar to the stock radio box plastic.

Well the one in the picture is made for an XL length... I want to make one for an extended as well though.

As far as buying one, well, I'm just doin this crap for fun, haha. If it turns out I can do it with the mold at home. Enough money to cover the plastic and shipping would be plenty (maybe $10 or so).

Is that for the front end ? If so its the same length on all savages. One will fit all. You will have a solid product. But, as always... you posted pictures and I went 😵 and read noffin as I stared in delight ... lol

Yep, it is for the rear of the truck. The throttle/brake servo will be next to the engine and the reciever/switch/fail safe/battery will all be behind that. It is too long for an ext truck... but not by much.

Well, it was supposed to be in the mail by now almost to my house... but my contact fell through on the 3D printer. So I have one more contact left on a rapid prototype machine. This is actually a way better friend, but I'm not sure if he still has his machine, I will find out tomorrow...

I just started playing with CAD last night, what are you using? I must admit, I am cheating and using Google SketchUp, but it works like a charm!

Just did my first complex shape today:

I know, who needs a servo? I am kicking around a few ideas, and wanted a scale servo to fly into and out of different designs.
