Help save the Hump Packs!!

Hey guys, did something really dumb. I I think I left my truck electronics on when I stored the truck over night. And now my prophet sport charger doesn't detect the battery. Is the hump pack toast because it got totally discharged?

if you have a wall-wire charger, try charging it with that for a couple hours (supervised of course)

then plug it back into your prophet & see whats up.

Nah, unfortunetly all I have is the ProphetSport charger. Would the pack be pretty well dead though if it was left on for about 12 hours? what kind of charger are you talking about (wire charger) ?

Its possible, but without checking it out with a multi-meter or a charger that gives a read out, all we can really do is guess.

sometimes when you buy a pack or glow ig, it comes with a charger that is nothing more than a wire that plugs into the battery & then into an a/c outlet.

This charger doesnt need to detect a battery to send a charge current to the battery.

might be easier to just bite the bullet & buy a new packs.

If over-discharge is the issue, its likely only one cell that is dead since it was forced into polarity reversal (discharge below 0V) by the other cells when it hit 0V before the other cells (cells are never discharged to the same level due to capacity differences, so one cell will bite the dust before the others) - which can permanently damage the cell and probably is the reason why your smart charger doesnt detect the whole pack anymore.

The only way to find out if that is the case is to take the pack apart and meassure each cell. If only one is damaged, you could replace it. Or just buy a new hump pack... 😉

Make sure the truck is off when you hook it to the charger. If the truck is on, it will not charge.

Thanks for the info and suggestions guys! I took it to my LHS and they were somehow able to recharge them for me! I don't have a charger cable in the truck :-(
Anyone know the part number for that? I have the old Hitec AM radio that orriginally came with my used X SS

my prophet plus likes to get stupid like that too. I will hit the button over and over and over again till it charges and gives me the 3 tone that its done
