thanks for the update JR

No prob Dan. I just wish this would have happened after I get back from vacation. I was hoping to be able to run my truck a few more tanks before we all leave. Now I won't be able too. Oh well, that's how my luck goes. And hopefully my luck will be better in the poker room/casino on the cruise ship. If not, I'm still gonna have a good time.

Alright guys, here's the vids from Sat. night. All these vids are of the modded motor. In the first few, the slipper clutch came loose and that's now fixed with a new nut and cranked all the way down, no slippage. Temps never went past 240 and it was runnin rich. I was lookin at all the fuel/oil trails I left in the road. I just now need to get a new clutch kit and then set the final settings for the shift points. Bare in mind that all the clips were shot at night and some parts are hard to see. And that's with the night vision on. Also, please excuse some of the foul language in the vids. My buddy was filming and didn't know there are young members of the forum. I would edit the clips, but I have no way to do it. So, I'm applogizing now and I told him the next time he's gotta keep it clean. Enjoy.

X, just finally got the chance to sit down and look at your vids... your axial sounds sweet running through the rpms... cant wait to see rip after you get the new clutch shoes & bearings in her... :jamout:

I'll try Dan. Not sure what all I'm gonna be doin yet. It's my first cruise. Plus, I think the wife will kill me for doin that.

Thanks Freddy. It'll be a while before I can get some more vids. Need new bearings for the motor.

i dunno X, do you need to spend that much cabbage?

I decided that since I need to replace them, might as well get better ones. And I've heard that Boca's are pretty much the best ones that you can get, I'm just not sure of which ones. All three that I listed use ceramic balls inside the bearings, which are a really good thing. But, it may be awhile before I can get them though. I'll have to wait and see.

It's been awhile since I have updated this. For those who don't already know, the bearings started leaking on me so I had to get some new ones. I just got done swapping the bearings out for some Boca's. Here's pics of the old bearings after they were takin out of the motor.

The larger of the two bearings is the inner one. If you notice, a couple of the balls are missing. They didn't come out when it was still in the motor and runnin, they were still inside the bearing when I went to pull them out. I'm guessing that once I had the motor heated up and went to remove them, the few balls fell out. Once I had put the new bearings in, while waiting for the motor to cool off, I looked over the old bearings and noticed the ball cage/race (inner) was extremely loose and that's what was probably causing the motor to leak.

See a main bearing do that many times.. You didn't loose a few bearings .. What happened was the bearing race gave way and the ball bearings were no longer held in by the race. The bearing race is made of plastic. and most likely gave way do to heat

The balls were all still in there until I took the bearing out of the motor. But you are right about the cage being loose. Typical Axial motor problem. Shouldn't have it anymore now that I've got Bocas in there, hopefully.

Update..... I was finally able to get new bearings for the motor and they are already in. I was also able to get a new and better clutch. Everything is already back in the truck and ready to go. I was able to run it for a bit yest. until I smacked the neighbors car. The bearings I used were the Ceramic MX bearings from Boca Bearings. I also went with the Fioroni black carbon twin turbo sliding clutch. I'll update more towards the weekend once I have a chance to really give the truck a good run. Stay tuned.

I love that clutch on my Nova! I'm glad you saw threw the price and took my suggestion. I still stand behind if you don't like it sell it to me..

Don't hold your breath Justin. It doesn't look like I'll be getting rid of it. Once and when, this one wears out, I might try the Werks clutch next. Who knows.

Well, it's been quite awhile since I've updated this thread. To be honest, I completely forgot about me doin this review. So anyways, here's a bit of an update. I've got almost 4 gals through the motor (3 1/2- 3 3/4) and it's still got plenty of pinch and still runnin strong. I took 2 pics of the internals. One is of the top of the piston and the other is of the head button. There's a little bit of pitting, which I believe is due to the fact that the glow plug needs replaced. Other than that, the internals look fine, but I haven't pulled the backplate off yet to see the bottom end internals. Here's the pics and hopefully the more experienced members will be able to give their opinion on how it looks.

And on a side note, I didn't clean either of the parts before takin pics. Only area I cleaned was around the outside where I missed before I pulled the head off.

Please let me know what you guys think.

glad she is still running for ya!

put some fuel threw it already.......lol

yeah it's still runnin good. I've got a leak somewhere around on the carb. I haven't had a chance to check it yet and find out exactly where it is though. What do you think of the condition judging from the pics?

from the minor pitting, I'd say if you have removed a head shim to put it back for a while longer.

The button should be a carmel color by now imo as well

what plug/fuel are you running ?

I don't think it's pit marks, cast pistons sometimes have a porous look to them, pits would be much more noticeable, I've seen a few before lol.
