You would be surprised how strong Carbon is , 3 times stronger than steel or aluminum and just as strong. why else would a high quality Race car use it ? just look at any formula 1 car it is 90% carbon.... but in that ad I don't see what material they are made of....

I was judging by the picture. It looks like you can see a couple fine threads hanging from it.

As with most CF parts if ya use some thin Ca glue along any cut edges it will keep them from fraying and possibly splitting. I ran an onroad car in the 90's and never had any issue with fraying or splitting , and Onroad cars take some severe beatings on the track.....
