Hey guys, well I got my savage out for a little fun Saturday. Was in process of getting the tune set, it was about 50 degrees and about 5 min into having fun I hit a large clump of dirt doing bout 40mph or better and went into a barrel roll. Truck held up ok except for a upper a-arm broke and of coarse when that happened the dog bone came out and went some where. This has happened every time a a-arm breaks I loose the dog bone. of course I didn't have any extra's for the XL just for the X so my bash time ended there 🙁. Was trying to think of a way to fix the loosing the dog bone when that happens. It doesn't happen real often maybe 3 times but aggravating when it does. I seen the universal dog bones that are fitted to the axle and figured that might work. Worst case the dog bone would get bent and I would have to straiten it but I would still have it. Problem is I cant find any that are listed for the XL size. Anyone know if they make them or have a better solution? Other than don't crash

Oh and FYI the LRP 30X converted to pull start is pretty wicked in a savage XL geared 17/47 with 40 series tires.

My Savage XL is also geared at 47/17 with an LRP. 32. The performance is awesome with a good balance of bottom and top end power.

What kind of pipe you running?

Have a Dynamite 086 pipe and header on it. I have a Jamin JP3 Pipe I'm going to try also but as listed above waiting on parts to get here.

I was wanting to try a ERCM Pipe but I cant get hold of them. Called and no answer and emailed ERCM. I think I heard some where that he was having health issues but not 100% on that

I feel like ive heard that too.

Could also go with integy:

Probably a waste of money though.

integy's ok on certain things, but driveshafts aren't one of them. you'll be plenty happy with MIP.

I also recommend the MIP drives, I have several sets of them and they will most likely outlast the rigs they are on.....

I looked on MIP website and they don't show anything for the savage line. Tried to look at measurement's but not really any luck so I emailed them. Will see what they say.

MIP emailed me back very promptly(good service). Here is there reply to my question if they had any CVD axles for the savage X or XL.........

Hello Bryan,

Thank you for contacting MIP with this message. All of your questions are very important to us. We do not have any axle kits for those trucks at this time. We will note of this for future product. If you have any more questions please let me know and I am happy to help.

Yeah, MIP quit selling them some time ago.

I know it sounds stupid, but maybe you could finagle a cable around the axle. Just tight enough so the ball end won't go through it. Will drag a little, but if you tie the other end to the arm, it might keep it from leaving the truck.

Or, take them all out and paint them hunter orange. Then you have a higher likelihood of finding them when they fall out.

Well I will figure something out to keep track of them. Possibly put a little spot weld at the end of the slots in the axle after I insert the dog bone so it cant come out of 1 axle at least. If I do that I could grind the weld off if I ever need to take the dog bone out.
