Well, had a nice wreck yesterday and bent the TVP's all to hell. So I decided to slap on my X TVP's on vs the regular Savage TVP's. I got it all back together but now it doesnt roll like it should. There is a TON of resistance, like the brakes are on but they arent. It's smooth, no clicking or binding like the gears are too tight it just has a lot of resistance and also the spur spins normally. The problem also isnt between the differentials, like if I spin one tire the other tire counter rotates freely. I'm about to take it all apart again to see if I can find the problem but for now I can't think of what it might be. Any ideas?

Thanks, alex

So you went from an older style TVP to the X ones? Is the center rear dogbone rubbing on the bottom of the engine plate braces?
Have you looked inside the trans to see if there is something wrong with it?

yea i switched from the old style to the X. the rear driveshaft clears the engine plate just fine, and when i broke it down the transmission was fine. Are X rear driveshafts a different length than from regular Savage shafts?

Found the problem, the rear diff cup rubs on the engine plate.. hmmm, I guess i'll be switching to the X Bulkheads too.. :duh:

The X TVPs drop the engine and transmission down so I figured the problem was back there somewhere. You can also mod the engine plate a little to make it clear the cup. The X bulkheads are a real time saver when it comes to working on the diffs.
I'm glad you got it figured out. Now fix it and get it back out there and destroy it again! lol

I haven't play much with the interchanging of 25 to X parts. But are you sure that wil fix the problem? Does the X blukheads change the angle or height of the rear drive cup compared to the 25 series blukheads? I thought people were able to put just the X TVPs and X engine mount plate on to 25 savy with out any other changes. I'm i wrong? I know that the X style blukheads are much better the 25 series. But I am just asking?

nah you'r right also nick, I had to use the X engine plate because the crossmembers are notched to clear the diff cup. Good catch =D

A little dremel time might get you going before you can get some parts in. I think you may just need the cross braces with the releif in them, not sure about the whole eng plate. If you weren't so far away I'd hook ya up.

its cool, i had the X one's with the little cutaway in my spare parts drawer. i put em in and bam, no problems! too bad i blew yet another rear differential lol

funny thing is, with only front wheel drive my savvy still smokes T-Maxx's lol

once i tear it apart and verify it's another bad diff i'll look into those CEN Diffs

lol if you like that pic, i'll put up a better one
