I'm curious on what would be a good motor to get after mine goes...well, i do some racing not any type of rock crawling type of stuff.......i want a motor for speed not for climbing...any ideas....i was looking at the rb or the o.s .30.......please help

their is no best everyone on here has their own favorit mill. Its kinda like a for and chey deal. Their are all kinds of write ups on motors on here and i think their is a sticky of engine dyno's that shows rpms horse power and all that.
P.S My current favorit mill is the picco .27

From the 2 you are looking at the RB will be the better of the 2 especially if looking for speed. The OS is a Torque monster but not a lot of High end. The best mill all has to do with what kind of money you want to spend, meaning under or around $200 or like $400 you could get a Novarossi or some killer motor like that.

A savage favorite right now is the LRP .28 Spec 3. I like the Picco's personally the P3 as it seems like one of the better motors for the buck with a touch more speed than the LRP but a little harder to tune and is also built a bit better however the LPR is a wonderful motor and is cheaper the the Picco. Both are great mills and both will have great top ends.

I'm completely with X25 this is a personal preference.

That diablo engine doesn't look like anything special to me. Heck, the K4.6 is "rated" at "2.9" horsepower. The subject has been beaten so badly it should probally be banned as a subject. If you search you will find alot of oppinions about what engine may be the best. Just do some research and decide for yourself. The best type of knowledge and experience is when you experience it yourself. If the one you go with is not to your liking, its not the end of the world, drive it into the ground and then you get to buy a new engine again!

I agree with X. This has been talked about alot around here. In the end you have to make the choice for yourself and their is more then enough info on this site to anwser your questions. If you cant find it then jump in the shout box and ask. If someone cant help you their then start a new thread with your question.

If I was to buy a novarossi engine or something in that class would I need to upgrade any other parts to handle the power. I have a Savage X.

Nope not yet, but I'll upgrade as son as I break my stock diffs. I just got my savy and plan on using my F4.6 at least through the summer. But I'm already thinking ahead for a killer mill for when the time does come.

man...i say the f4.6 or lrp. those two engines are neck and neck if you ask me. i have the newer STOCK f4.6 in my X rtr.....and to let you know.......with hpi suspension, 18t clutch, 3 speed, high 3rd, cv joints, nubz, k&n filter, aluminum clutches, hpi polished pipe, and hotbodies shocks.......51mph. the sheriffs around here clocked us because they wanted to know how fast we were going. around 200 to 250 ft we estimated. half of the 1/8 mile is 330ft, so u do the math on the time. she was topped out though....running about 242 degrees and on 30% odonnell nitro. next saturday we are gonna try again....but THERE WILL BE VIDEO POSTED ON YOUTUBE FOR EVERYONE THAT DOESN'T BELIEVE! i think my dirt bonz are lighter and maybe when they turn into pizzacutters i can get a lil more. the nubz don't swell too much at all.

can't wait for the video. I'm still trying to dial mine in. the savage is a beast compared to my china made Acme truck i bought last year as a tainer so I could learn how NOT to break them into pieces so easly. The Savage is a blast, and I have excellent terrain to race it around here in northen New York. Anyway, bye the time I replace all the stock parts with top quality ones, I'm going to have one hell of a truck.

soulja55.. How do you like the 3 speed tranny with high third? It's an affordable upgrade if purchased through RCPlanet.com.. Is it worth the $80Have you had any problems with the tranny or any relative components? And how many teeth do you run on the SG?
