Hey all, i have 3 servos to hand that i can use for my throttle/braking.

the one in it atm is a HPI SF 1. i also have a Futuba S3003 and a Hitec HS645-MG.

WHich would be the best to use or are they all pretty weak for a throttle servo? kinda on a budget so don't want to spend loads if i need to buy one

Use the 645 mg in the throttle location, no reason to use a weak servo, and you will have better braking to boot......

645MG is the best of the 3 for a MT. Weaker servos get the job done, but they don't last as long. Running at least a 100oz servo for t/b I find is best on any MT.

I really like the old hitec 985MG but they quit making them. Fast, strong and sealed with o-rings. Perfect all round servos to use for a basher for steering or t/b. I run two in my BB revo for just that, one in my savage, 1/8 buggy and sb revo for t/b duty.

i tried my 645mg in my throttle today and it wasnt working as it should. when i opened throttle it was applying the brake and when i braked the throttle opened a bit, dunno wtf was going in there, i thought maybe the connecter into the actual unit was the wrong way round but it only went in 1 way.

put the old hpi sf1 in and that works fine.

plus side, i did fix one of my problems today with the carb not opening all the way. the throttle bar was binding on the pulley to carb bar, so i put a rubber o ring underneath the pulley to raise it slightly, which stopped the binding. i also had to remove the spring that goes from under the HSN to carb piston as that was binding on my ribbed rubber cover on the carb and stopping it from opening freely. opens and closes as it should now so ill stick with the hpi servo for now til it gives up then try figure out why the 645mg is working backwards

some servos are reversed in operation, just flip the servo reverse switch on the radio and it will work the right direction......all this info is in your operations manual, just a bit of reading will save alot of frustration when getting a vehicle running.......
