I am wondering how everyone acquired the Savage (besides going to the store and laying down cash) ... I sold a car and the guy didn't have quite the amount I was looking for I knew he had a "nitro" truck and asked for it also .. And that's how I recived my truck ..

Also How Did you find HPISF?? ME... Just searching for parts of something can't really remember ..:moon:

cool thread sj

I got my first savage 21 on ebay for 200 bucks, it was stock except for xtm24.7

It was my first nitro, I liked the tvp on the savage

the flat style chassis didnt seem as strong as the tvp was

As far as HPISF I was havn spur issues when I started looking for help.

I had an HPI NMT and my friend got a Savage 21 right when they first came out. I finally had a chance to drive it in January of 2003 and was in awe! What fun! The size and suspension are what really sucked me in. I sold him my NMT the next day and used the money to buy my own Savage 21 the day after that.

As for the HPISF, I don't remember!

If you cant beat them join them

I first bought a Warhead big mistake. My wife wanted a savage(to be different) well she was beating me in every aspect plus longer run time without repairs.I could not let that happen. Like they say if you cant beat them join them, been a savage lover ever since

i had 2 hpi mt's,my friend got a savage and ran my mt over, and it sold me sold both mt's and got a savage 25

For my 15th birthday I wanted an rc. I did some research online and decided to get the savage. Great present. I was online searching for hopups for the savy and I stumbled upon this forum.

My neighbor has a TMaxx and I wanted a nitro. have had electrics in the past, I was aloted 500.00 from tax return. I looked at alot of MTs and decided the Savage looked the coolest and toughest. so I ordered from tower. So glad I decided on the Savage. I was looking for parts and ran across the forum. Have been on several different forums but I like this one the best. You guys all Rock and am glad I am a part of the best forum around.

this is a good thread,

I was searching for BL motors for my quadracopter on united hobbies, when I noticed a the nitro's menu and the off-road menu, they had 3 nitro 4x4's and I had had a couple nitros as a kid but could not afford the radio equipment for them, so I wanted one. I wanted to know which of those were the better truck so I started researching, ealmost everywhere I found info about one of those trucks I found people saying "get a savage" and a few for revo, It came down between the 2 trucks, actually looking at the ad's text, the revo was comming out on top, it had reverse, and push button starting and a bigger motor, but and I guess it was the tvP's and over all look of the savage that made me go for it, I am glad I did, well plus after searching for savage and revo people were almost all saying the savage would crush a revo even people that had both. so that's what I went with.

I was thinking, these pictures and the ad they came from sold me,

I seen one in a hobbie shop and see others but thought the savage was the coolist with the way it sat there, the wheel travel and how it just looked like the real thing, so needless to say I had to have one, this was when they first came out, and to this day I am still running the same savage, with a lot of modaficathions though.
And Y did I come to this site, will I really wanted to meet people with the same interests and see how made their savage's better or for what upgrades, get help, give help (if I could), and so far everyone that I have talked to is great, and for that THANKS....

Jay..

I've been in rc since I was 13, now 32 first car was a grasshopper. I went on a 3 yr hiatus from the hobby after getting into a fight at the local track with some guys who had lost the whole spirit of hobby. Then two years ago my buddy picked an original savage21 that he bought from a guy at work. We started it up and I was instantly rehooked on my hobby. Now I built a track and I keep it fun there...got a no pricks allowed policy!:leftright: Can't wait till may at diggers dungeon!

Well what got me into the savage was me and my dad would always go to the LHS and I always wanted one and then I started looking on ebay and then went to the LHS for about a month just talking to the guy their about them and they impressed me enough to get the savage 25 at the time being the latest one out. Savage was my first hobbygrade RC at the age of.....12 if i remember correctly.

I found the forum a few days before I got a savage........got the savage a week or so after my birthday.

I had always run electric cars but wanted something I could drive ANYWHERE. Nitro sounded like fun to me so I researched and was impressed by many aspects of the savage with emphasis on the K4.6. I found the HPISF when I was looking for mods on the HPI site, they had a link to this site.

The first nitro rc car/truck I ever saw was a niegbors Tmax. I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I knew I had to have one. However his truck was constantly broken and I knew I needed something tuffer and willing to take the beating I was going to give it.

So I go to the hobby shop and ask for the tuffest nitro truck, the guy pulls out a savage 25. I say "so is it really better than a tmax". He picks it up an tosses it over our heads (I'm 6'1) and says "don't do that with a Tmax". Of course the savage landed like a cat and I was sold.

So I bought it and have beat the living crap out of it with very little problems for three years. From Arizona sand dunes, Moab rock crawling, and Big Bear snow bashing it is a fantastic machine. This site has been wonderful for those few times when something has gone wrong. Thanks.:10:

reply to what made you pick a savage!

Well my husband got a nitro truck first he purchased a Warhead I loved the nitro part but not the truck, So I went looking and found the Savage X it just looked like a awesome truck I had to have it so I sold my 1984 Bronco( the one in my pictures)and bought one it was just what I expected .so much that my husband was jelious because I kept beating him and pouted so much I went out and bought him one with the rest of the money from the sale of my Bronco.:bigsmilie:

I take it you are the wife of trixter227?

Finally after years of wanting a monster truck I finally had the money, I did the research and though the savage was best. All the shops I went to tried to sell something other then a savage but I didn't listen and bought the savage. I don't regret it. I just need a bigger engine to keep up with the LST2's.

i bought the savage x about 6 months ago and had a few questions about break in and stuff as this is my first nitro truck in a long time so looked around and found this forum and i've been coming here for advice ever since!!:10:

You tell her that it is more fun than watching and that she can break parts with you and understand why you are always wanting to buy better stuff, lol.

I got the Savage X after watching and helping break my friends T-Maxx. Decided I definetly needed something tougher. The savy is my first nitro and I'm happy I didn't get the T-Maxx even after years of wanting one. Now I spend alot of time fixing his and my sister's T-Maxxs. I found the forum through another forum and haven't looked back since!

I've always been into R/Cs, just never really had the money. Always spending it on my 1:1 car that I used to have. Friends from a car club I used to be in had a few, but they were on-road cars. I used to have a Hpi RS4, when they came with the single speed and the two speed was an upgrade options. Then, I started working construction and wanted a MT. And once I find a company I like, I usually tend to stick with that company. Hence, that's why I got the Savage. Plus, I haven't really seen any other companys offer MT's as a kit version and that's what I wanted. Then, I found HPISF one day looking for hop-up ideas and never looked back. I joined Savage Central also, but since I mainly use AOL, I could never log-in so gave up on that forum. And all guys and gals are great people. 😛nclsmilie:
