i have a savage ss and bought a 3 spead tranny and duel disc brakes.
when i installed the disk brakes i over Tightened one of the screws and stripped the thread in the gear box case.
what should i do?buy a new gear box case or is there some way i can fix it?
last thing i don't have too much money to spend on it!

Hi 4x4

I'm not sure if this is possible but it might be worth trying a larger screw so it will cut a new thread as you screw it in.

it could be possible. i will give it a go. but would it still be strong?

You could also try to put really strong quick drying glue in there (like Zap) and let it dry (or about 5 seconds) and then put the screw in. That should also give it a new thread.

Don't spend too terribly much time on it though, tranny cases are pretty cheap and it might not be worth all the aggravation of failed repairs. Just something to keep in mind.

I know its an old post but iam posting hear any way

I think that hpi need to desing this whole thing better I had the dule disk brake set up (thought it was crap) it did the same thing to me I just put the stock brake back on and put a litte bigger screw in it works way better then the upgrade now I don't have to take the whole truck apart to work on my brake every other day
