After reading over many posts and looking online at all the various mods out there, it is apparent once sink a LOT of money into one vehicle.

Trial and error is one way to learn things. But I would rather learn from your (mistakes) experience. Tell me some of the worst mods you have made and why it was such a bad choice.

Steel spur gear- My engine slid due to a broken engine plate and the CB and the spur locked up. The engine had nothing to unload on so the crank shaft in my engine snapped in half. Other than that nothing. The steel spur wasn't really a bad buy it was actually my own fault because I should have checked my mesh more. If I had to pick though I would say the steel spur.

aluminum shock, hot bodys threaded.Springs rubed the finish off pretty fast, the shock rod's where to soft bent easy.
Integy aluminum center steering link. Cheap aluminum really soft twisted easy.

I would say that their are really no bad mods just poor quality ones. What is the old saying "get what you pay for" sometimes that is true. If you have any questions about a brand you can ask around the site all of us have tried different products. don't hesate to ask questions cause all of us do it. Also welcome to the site.

I guess I must of gotten a poor quality mod. The very first thing I bought (even before my Savage was delivered) was a fail safe. The darn thing was engaging with the truck being only 20-25 feet out. Aggravating. Ended up removing it.

Your battery was probably low, or sometimes 4 AA's don't deliver enough power so the failsafe kicks in.

Yeah, my experiance is that about the most reliable item you can buy is the failsafe... so if it was "working" so close to you, might point to a low battery situation or poor range of your reciever or radio. I know most of us don't do range checks on our radios like the guys flying planes do, but its still a good idea, don't want to run over the neighbors cat!

I went with the hump back battery pack.....now the failsafe works the way it should

I sold my first Savage 25 and have recently picked up and rebuilt another Savage 25 roller. I was determined to modify it wisely.
No added aluminum.
No reverse or three speed - I didn't need them, just cost me money.

So my mod list is short:
Hump pack and failsafe
645 MG servo
Hex screws armor plated screws - I got tired of stripping the stainless ones
Savage X radio box
High perf air filter
Axial 28

American CNC Machining 23mm adapters. The use the stock nuts but then they don't allow for enough thread to reach the 'lock' portion of them. They keep coming off! Go with the Pro-Line 23mm adapters instead. Much better luck with them.

i'm not sure that you0 would even call this a mod but it's in the savage x hop-ups list, The aluminum joint bars that go across the bottom at the front and back. Well i payed around $40 Canadian and the threads that they put in each side of the bars are garbage, they start a few millimeters down the hole and are all deformed. and no i didn't strip them.

hey when I first got the savy I had now problems but when i started modding it in some casses the mod weakened somthing else lost a dog bone cuz the aluminum adjustable arm( two piece ) thing broke every time i would jump and I'm talkin some little jumps compared to the way i woulsd jump it when i got it biggest air 12 feet high and about 15 long didnt land it and bent the tvps but still driveable had to hammer out my tvps straight the sand out the hammer marks lol wont do that again..............yes and when you buy aluminum parts take them out of the bag at the store if your there and check the threads they. by screwing in the bolt or whatever half way in try to wiggle the piece if the treads are good the piece should not wiggle in cheaply made parts the hole before its tapped is drilled to big not aloowing the tap to cut deep into the walls of the hole giving you a crap tap...these parts are what I'm going to try to make my self

i would never ever reccomend proline's 23's......there absolutely JUNK Under Real Power. ANY hex conversion that dosent use an Updated 8mm Trug/Bug style axel is Junk.......the small pins will Never hold up to the power some of these motor's are makin these days.

Yea..;I was pretty hot about that problem I had back then...

I have to say that the MSR-6*'s are quite a different story.

I very happy with them so far...and don't think I'll have any issues with them.

==========Integy deserves an "at a boy" on the MSR-6's===============

Integy aluminum piggy back shocks shafts bend way to easy went to stock and I replaced 1 because I hit something. The savage X roll bar that covers the head dumbest thing I bought yet you have to hack up the body to much and it trashes the body cause its to weak.

the integy wheelie bar!!! its totally weak "bent first run" and isnt even long enough really to help all that much with your truck flipping over!!

The integy piggy back shocks I have one that is slightly bent and hanging up the front end right now. Aluminum skid plates front and rear I spent most of the time bending them back out from the body so I went back to plastic. The rear exhaust that didn't fit the X. And the stainless roll cage doesn't take landing upside down to well but I am going to take it to work and mod it.

I would have to say the worst upgrade I ever did was the GPM alloy steering unit. I could never get it to fit in my truck right.

Integy MSR 4 & MSR 5 Shocks

After continuously bending the shafts on integy MSR 4 Shocks I upgraded to Integy MSR 5 shocks. They still bend too easily. I only run 10wt oil until I can afford to replace them. I will say they look nice but as far as functionality is concerned, Well I am done with Integy parts. I'm not sure what my next set will be yet but by the time I am ready to buy new ones I should be able to decide what the majority of you guys prefer.

Beadlocks. The bead came out after every run, and the screws would strip in the plastic. I hated them.

I had the same problem with the integy shocks JUNK I will not buy anymore of there junk. As for shocks built the stockers with 20wt and hit the local bmx track and flyin HIGH and not a single problem. That is my 2 cents. hope this helps drtbikdave.
