Ok for all the savy racers out there I need som help. I am new to the world of rc and i have built 2 savages and i want 1 racer and 1 basher. here is the truck as it sits
IMGP1215.jpg

IMGP1216.jpg

it has the following
Picco 27 motor, extended tpv, intgy shock towers, savageX diffs, 3 speed tranny.
Now looking for things i can do to lower it and make it handle better and stuff. can you include links to any info provided. \
P.S i might put my spare werks calario 30 in not sure yet.
Thanks in advance

For racing I have done a few things to mine to make it perform better on the track.

So far here is a list of things I have done.

1) FLM Extended lcg Chassis
2) Cen/Mugen Mid tank mod
3) cen shocks with stock shocks (setup varies to track conditions)
4) Buku pipe
5) JR 9100T steering servo (overboard but I splurged)
6) HPI SF-4 servo for throttle and brake
7) Spektrum DX2 (2.4ghz is almost a must for big races)
8) RD logics tires and wheels

I am sure I have missed some stuff but that is the majority of it.

My race Savage includes:
FLM standard length LCG TVPs
HPI Big Bore shocks
PRCP 250cc midtank mod
Hitec digital/coreless servos
3spd trans
6v 2600 mah hump pack
RPM arms
RPM radio box
Axial .28
Hot Bodies tuned pipe
HPI Nubz tires
Spektrum DX3

You will want to lose the alloy upper arms for sure. I'm not sure about the towers. I'm sure someone else will have an opinion on them.

What uppers are good to use. And i have a 1200 hpi pack as well. are there any links to buy the mid tank mods. The towers have 3 points. and the lower arms have 3 points. was wondering where to put them for a lower stance.

Like these guys said. Depending on surface Pin tires are nice (Truggy Style). A Hump, Nice servos Digital Preferably, a digital radio I like Futaba 2.4. You want a lower stance. The 2 speed seems to work best for racing but several use the 3 speed as well.

There are some companies that offer the midtank mod as a kit. But most people just get whats available to them and make it work. Platinum RC Products, Fast Lane Machine and Innovative RC all sell a midtank kit.

I like the RPM upper and lower arms personally. You can add a little color (blue/purple) and they are stronger and lighter than stock plastic.

thanks for the mid tank links. I was thinking of trying to build my own but we'll see. as for the lowers they are integy. not much plastic left on the old girl. now my basher is stock 25 except for the werks 30 motor

Nice truck. thats how i want mine to sit low

One thing I have found to get it a lil lower is to remove the shock blocks from the factory the lil c-clip thing. I took the stock shocks and put 20 weight in the shock that allows it to sit a lil lower and I've found it a big help on the track i don't flip over anymore. Hope this helped. You may be looking for more serious mods not sure.

Practice. You can put a grand into the truck and it means nothing if your driving skills aren't up to par.

I would suggest offset wheels too. Like maximizers.

You don't have C clips on your shocks. Your bodies are threaded so you just need to move the collar higher so the truck sits lower. If you push the truck all the way to the ground and than let go it should rebound up till the dogbones are parallel with the ground. That is the perfect ride height for racing.
Nubz tires will lower the truck and make it turn better also. I'm sure any truggy style tire will do the same but I only have experience with the Nubz on my Savage.

ok a few things i have done is shorten my shock shafts 15mm this gives you a lower stance. Can be done by cuting a piece of bic pen to length take your shock shaft out of the body and slide the pen piece over the shaft and put it all back together. Change your shock fluid depending on the ambient temp. take your diffs apart get rid of the grease and use diff fluid in its place. diferent weight diff fluid will make your truck handle different need to figure out your own setup for you track surface. A good starting point would be 7 - 10k in the front and 3 - 5K in the rear. I personaly run 7k front and 3k rear and love it.A good set of tires is a must. Get 0 offset wheels they will corner better the wider the car the harder it is to turn into the corners. you will be lowering it so 1/2 offset are not nesecery to keep it from rollling over in the turns. and lastly Practice Practice Practice.
Good luck
