Alright, so I'm using the Venom VFS Failsafe Unit on my Savage. It does It's job applying the brakes on the truck when I lose a signal or hit interference. I have a question though, last night I was out trying to get a fine tune on my truck so I started it up and turned on the TX/RX and the truck would come in/out and then finally It just stopped..

I took a look at the failsafe unit and the light was not blinking like It does when you lose a signal, It was just a red light with no blinking.. does that mean I was in the low voltage range..? I emailed Venom about this but they haven't gotten back to me about it, go figure :duh: can anyone clarify this for me?

I have charged my hump pack (12.5 hours) and my transmitter batteries (Energizer 2500MAH Rechargables) but haven't gotten out to test it due to crappy weather..

Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks Alot and Happy Holidays

My venom fail safe was a piece of poo. I stopped running it, as it always applied the brakes when the truck was turning around resulting in somersaults. I was told that my fail safe works a lot better on higher end radios not the rtr am stuff. Your fail safe isn't the same as mine so it may be better.

I'd tested it again with your batteries charged without the truck running and see what happens.

Thanks Tim..

I put the hump pack and transmitter batteries back onto the truck and had It sitting on the stand with the motor off, and everything worked the way It was supposed too.. Venom customer support blows, and there wasn't much info regarding the failsafe on their website or the package It came in. I'm assuming that "non blinking" when the reciever/transmitter are on would have to be the low voltage cut off.. because when I was testing it and turned off the transmitter It would blink.

I plan on upgrading to a Spektrum radio in the future, so I will most likely due away with the Venom VFS as the Spektrum has an integrated system.

i just bought a VENOM SPEED METER and most of the people left negative feedback. is the VSM the same as the VFS?????

Not really sure, I think the Speed Meter is just to calculate speeds.. you can check through their website though.. just google Venom Racing RC

i just had a runaway at the end of the driveway last night . is that commen?
so the failsafe is suppossed too prevent that. venom is what my lhs sells
what are some other manufacturers. it was a little nerve racking thankfully there were no cars.

Yes, the failsafe is probably the first thing I would buy. It is common for runaways to occur with signal interference, bad crystals, low battery voltage and or poor choice of battery.. get a failsafe and you'll be set!

The failsafe detects signal interference, battery voltage, and If your transmitter gives out on you.. The failsafe is then triggered to set the truck to use the brakes, but It can be user adjusted by turning the little pot on the unit. It's easy to install just route it between your throttle servo and the reciever

Failsafe helped me so far with signal issues in some areas and when my battery was to low in voltage

get the Venom VFS Failsafe Unit, its small and gets the job done..

If you don't want to get the Venom VFS, then heres a link to another one I'm sure alot of people use which is basically installed/adjusted the same way

thx nsdrvr, i will do the mod combinded with upgraded sterring servo,I'm on
2nd shift this week plenty of daylight to do some serios wrenching. last night was my first whiff of nitro in the new year. should of seen my eyes light up!

Haha, yeah I was bashing yesterday. You gotta love the smell of that nitro, but It sucks when you lean down to check something and the fumes burn the hell out of your eyes..

but back to topic.. Consider the failsafe a insurance policy for your RC

as for a steering servo I would recommend the Hitec645MG Ultra Torque servo and moving the stock Steering servo up to the throttle.. that should suit ya, as It is my setup and I haven't had a problem yet
