you must get the truck to full tune b4 you play with the tranny. it needs the motor performance to work right

Second Gear No Shift

The Story
-Ok so like most people that posted here I replaced my supergear with the origenal plastic and after playing with it twice the truck wont shift into second gear.

-First thoughts- O ****!

So far I tryed loosening and tighting the nut in the transmission and I tightened the nut on the super gear right tight then backed it off 1/4 turn. My results = 0 Zero Change..

In few hours after work I will return carb to factory setting and tighten the supergear all the way then back off 1/8 turn. I'm not sure where the tranmission allen key nut would be put back to factory but I guess I will make sure its all the way to early shift then back 1/4 turn.

Seems like this is common problem so I will be back to post in few hours

Make sure you have a good slipper pad and tighten the nut all the way for now to eliminate it as a problem. After that, if your motor is running and spooling up good, (if it still doesn't shift) you probably just need to adjust your shift point.

On the two speed you should be able to do this from outside the truck. Your manual probably shows how. I'm not super familiar with the two speeds. I have two savages, one is older with the two speed but it needs a mill. The truck I run is a newer XL with the three speed and high speed third gear.

I tightened the nut on the Spur gear all the way and it now shifts into second gear.... Guess something must be messed up with the slipper.

If anyones savage will not shift into second gear I would first suggest tightening the nut on the Spur gear all the way it seems to have fixed everyones issues on here when you truck just stops shifting for no reasion. How to make the slipper work correctly I'm still not sure.

For the slipper to work correctly it has to be tightened to a specific amount. I think the manual says to tighten it all the way down and then back off 1/4 turn. Some people here only do 1/8 turn that way it's a little tighter, but I think many people here run it all the way tight that way there is no slip at all, especially with aftermarket mills that put out more power. I just broke in an LRP Z.28R Spec 3 and somehow managed to wear out and destroy a slipper pad even with the nut tightened down. So I guess with enough power and a strong clutch you can still get some ammount of slip no matter how tight you have it.
