G'day Guys
My first question.
Is it possible to install a twin steering servo setup. I'm going to run brushless and
am curious as to the mod.

Cheers

i have heard its possible but to get both servo's working in sinc is the problem one usually is working against the other to a point....... But this is just what i have heard i haven't trieed it myself!!

I think it's the challange that is making me want to do this.
Previous owner installed below. Works fine but but it's a cheapy and I'm not sure of quality???

Have a couple of Hitec HS-645MG's doing nothing. Build is on a budget so
don't want to fork out $40 on a servo.

The brushless beast will tip the scales at about 6.2kg or 9 and a 1/4 pounds so it
will take some steering.

twice the fun and why not?

syncing was an issue back in the day when it took 2 analog non metal geared servos to turn an 80mph outrigger. I'm of the opinion that todays digitals are of enough resolution to cooperate with one another. If you have an old volt watch battery meter laying around hook it up in line or on an aux chnl and see how much it spikes when you input steering to the assembly. I mean it's just because right?!

IMO, twin servos is a waste of time. There's gonna be more work involved than what you think. Not to mention what Shaun suggested about syncing the servos and them fighting each other. Here's a good example. Traxxas did that on the revo (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong), but I they did put twin servos on one of their cars. The car is a lot lighter than the savage and people would do a single servo swap cuz the send just wasn't needed. A good single servo will work better than 2.

Thanks guys. I'll stick to a single servo setup and save some cash for a goodin.

Out of interest how much torque can the standard servo saver take?
Be a waste if it opened at say 5kg's.

Not sure about that one. If the stock spring isn't strong enough, HPI makes a heavy duty upgrade spring for use with real high torque servos. And I think it's only a few bucks, could probably find it cheap on eBay.

You can use the the HD spring and just tighten it up some. I run mine all the way tight. Doesn't damage the servo if you have a durable aftermarket one.

Never tried it on a savage but I use the Hi-Tec HS-7955TG for throttle/brake on my Baja and it has speed and power. Puts out a huge amount of torque. A little spendy but it's worth it IMO.
