Tuning for beginners

Hello, i have a savage x. Since the weather is warming up, I decided to drive. But I didn't know tuning. I did some research and watched hpi's videos. I checked several forums.
and i thought i could . i asked the local rc shop where were doing the maintenance and tuning of the my savage i asked him could i to tuning . He said that I will do it, this job is too complicated and you can damage engine.
I would like to go, but rc shop far away and tuning is not free

I'm afraid of damaging the engine. Do you think i can tuning it my self?

Check those threads, lots of good info, as for tuning make small adjustments at a time and keep tabs on the engine temps....
