I'm wonderin how that will pan out. in the scheme of toy shoppin for your kids, the raminator seems like a very expensive little toy when you can get a different (crappy) 1 right down the isle for $30 cuz if your not into this hobby you wouldnt know the difference in quality & parents would more likely just look at the price tag & say "holy crap a $250 little toy for my 5 yr old?."
.
good find Matt, I'm interested to see where it goes :resp:

Great find. From what I've heard- all of the big manufacturers are in a race to get true mainstream exposure and sales. (Traxxas selling at Pep boys)
Couple of things- 1st PRICE?? They are about $100 more expensive that what Horizon sells them for: http://searchrc.horizonhobby.com/index.jsp?sid=11ECFE697A23&Ne=500&N=5083+685
This could go either way- people start to buy RC grade toys and the entire industry gets more exposure.
If we get more exposure and interest then communities might start to make dedicated RC parks? Am i dreaming???????
Or... people could drop $299 on a MLST, kiddo breaks it in 4 minutes and then the buyer is PO'd.
I can definately see the potential for nationally televised RC event's hmmm.... wonder what event or promoter could pull this off 🙂)))
A lot of people look at me funny and scratch their head when I tell them that there are $4,000 RC's out there.

lol,oh dear.
This usually means the following for the independent retailers:

Sales of new stock will reduce. In wallet conscious times most people are happy to shop around for the best deal.

Sales of hopups/mods etc will remain constant, the number of new cars being sold hasn't gone up,people are just buying them somwhere else.People who buy from department stores still want the mods, but usually cant get them at said stores.

Sales of replacement parts/quantity of repairs because of badly setup cars will increase, because most big stores don't stock the spares or have a clue about the product.Time to raise the labour rates me thinks!

This is just my opinion.I work in the cycle trade & the exact same thing is happening .You can now buy a bike on the pc world website 🙁

Good points PROMC. You'll now be buying milk, eggs, a Mini LST all while getting your oil changed. I don't think retailers have the ability to stock parts. It is a specialized thing

What's the big whoop? It says on-line only, not like you can run down to store and pick one up.
It probably will increase traffic at websites like ours to help fix them too.
