well i have gotten deep enough into my savage XL to be worth wile to take photos and post them.

This is the stock shock tower next to the Nova RC shock towers.

These are RC8 shocks with pink Hell-fire springs mounted to the rear end. i think the pink springs are going to be a tad to soft. ill know more once i get it all together.

As you can see i still have a lot to do. I'm waiting on the parts fairy to finish up the shocks in the front. I got my k5.9 on ebay and once that goes ill be engine shopping. then its on to the mid tank mod. still debating on how I'm going to pull it off but I'm sure it will be great.

What do you all think? any advice would be great

I'm looking up what i need to do the mid tank as i type this. Is the FLM servo plate the best way to go about this? what all will i need? i would hate to miss a part and have to delay the build. I know i need the servo tray and 2 sets of servo mounts. I got the RX and batt box covered. what else? is there a company out there that has everything you need in a kit?

thanks in advance

funny you got a D8 tank mounted in there. I so happen to have a brand new one for a back up to my buggy. what is used for the posts? the D8 posts? The only thing about the D8 tank is the size. i will most likely be running a gass guzzler. i should know this but do not. Does the D8T tank hold more fuel?

the D8t and D8 tanks have 2 different part numbers. it does not state size tho

Lookin good Tony thanks for sharing!! What tank are you looking to run?

Here is a set up with the D8 tank with flm servo plate. Pic is from Hypnotiq..

@ Hyp thanks for the pic bud..lol

LOL.. i was like.. hey. thats my setup... its all good scott! Glad i can help.

Hey nice build dude.. you shaved the rsc
33m1iso.jpg
. Got any plans for new tvps?

no tvp's in the plan yet. i have yet to even run the truck. its just dusty because it was a display model at the hobby shop. going to do tank mod and thats it for the time being. once i have run it a bit and recover from what i spent I'm sure ill be doing more.

and yes i shaved the steering stops. the throw on the rsc was just as bad as stock. a little more throw is good. i got a good servo to handle it and the bones look fine at full lock.

ill post pics tonight but for a update. i started my mid tank mod last night. got the steering servo and D8 tank mounted with almost no issues. toinght ill finish up the front shock tower and shocks.

Man Nova makes some nice shock towers. Can't wait to see more of the build.

i got to admit that this is my first RC that i have done custom work on and I'm having a blast. i went to my LHS today to see what they had that i could use for a RX box and battery box. All they really had were Losi xxt battery box's, so i picked up 2. once i got home i realized that only one was going to work for the RX box but i was stumped for a battery box. i went into the garage and pulled out my old rustler and the battery box mounted on the front bumper great. i driller through the lights in the front bumper to mount it. that's all i got for now. i am going to have my buddy help me with the throttle servo next week sometime. enjoy.

its a D8 buggy tank. its a bit small but i had it so it did not cost me anything at the moment. if i find runtime a issue ill swap it out. if i can get 7min ill be happy.

Cool. Was just wondering what tank it was. Should do fine. Any mid tank is better than stock tank. Rather have shorter run times and keep the engine safe than longer run times and mid tank lean. Trying to kill your mill. And you'll get about the same run time with a stock tank if you adjust it to run on the bottom half of the tank anyways. So you did good with your tank. I think you'll like it. Good job.

Good stuff bud... its coming along very nice. Do you race buggy? don't mean to derail your build thread but gotta ask as I just picked one up(D8)..

So you know what the mill is going to be yet ? If you said it yet and I missed it I apologize..

tony did you move your pics? the links are broken. I'm interested to see the RC8 rear shocks

i moved the pic sorry here thay are again

well, it late on Saturday night and I'm still buzzing from the tire glue. Did not do much tonight but the savage looks like a RC truck now. i got the front shocks mounted. the shocks are RC8 Rear shocks with hellfire pink springs and 40wt oil. I thought they were going to be too soft but they seem to be OK but wont know till i start to drive it. got my 17mm buggy style hubs installed and tires glues up. tomorrow ill be sealing and installing my new STS .28 and cleaning up all the dust that is on it. I wanted a wide and low stance and i think i got it! enjoy

yes those are thr integy hex hubs in 6mm extensions. i wanted smaller but thats the smallest thay have. i might look for flux drive axals to make it the standard XL witdh. once i drive it ill know more.

As for sealing the moter. i always tear down every engine to clean and seal. i clean because i find shavings not all the time but often enough. i seal it because its apart why not take the time to seal it up the right way. thats what seperates me from the people that say " that engine sucks". it could have a air leak and be running lean and thats why they burn out in a gallen.

If those wheels don't have any offset you will probably be fine with the extenders. I run a stock width XL with a couple different sets of zero offset wheels. I would like a little more than the stock XL width. Let us know how it handles with the RSC, Badlands, and axle extenders.

will do. got the throttle servo mounted and install and body painted. just got to finish the little things like running the wires and trimming the body. once all id done ill post pics of the final product

well its been a month since my last update. i had the savage all ready to go when the STS 28 turned out to be crap. it did not make it past break in. i sent it back but still got nothing back yet. so today i got a Dynamite mach 2 big red .28. got it paired up with a Dynamite 086. got it all installed and ready for break in tomorrow. ill post how it runs then. for now here are the pics of the final product.

oh. the intergy hub extenders are junk. A wheel fell off durning the 2nd tank. running stock hubs now. also 40 wt oil and helfire pinks were way to stiff. i now got 30wt with hellfire sulver springs. we will see how it does
