I bought a used engine, it has very low compression and I was going to order a new piston and sleeve when I noticed they have a pinch tool for about half of the price of the piston and sleeve. Both the piston and sleeve in this motor looks perfect, no scratches at all or discoloration. Would I be best off to just buy a new sleeve and piston or does pinching the sleeve really work? Has anyone on here tried it before and what was you results?

That sounds interesting. Does the sleeve fit loose in the motor block block if you do that?

I think you'd be better-off by getting a engine builder to do it instead of getting the tool to do it your self. I think it requires some precision. I may be wrong but getting a shop to pinch it is affordable. Here is just one business that does it.

Thanks for the link. I went ahead and ordered the tool to do it myself the other day, it was only $20, if it works it will be worth it because I have 3 of these same motors that will eventually need to be rebuilt, if not I wont be out much and be a lesson learned.

Sounds good. Maybe you could document it and share with us. I'm curious to see it work. Good luck with it.
