My first red stock Savage X body lasted about 5 tanks of fuel before the back part of the body got ripped off from dragging the ground while doing wheelies. My second new stock Savage body last 2 wheelies before breaking in the same spot. (right at the rear mounting posts.) I bought the HPI wheely bar thinking that it would keep the back bumper from draggin in the grass and peeling it up. Jeep rubicon body, wheely bar, same thing. Third new HPI stock body, wheely bar, ,,, one nice long jump, land on all fours, burp the throttle pull the front wheels and back corner of body grabs the dirt and rips the back of the body up.. AAAAAGGGGHHHH!..... What is everyone doing to fix this problem. (I know,, stop doing wheelies)

I would cut a section out of the back of the body so it doesnt grab the ground so easily. Just a small 45 deg. section off the bottom.

I second this ^^^^^^^^^ just cut of some of the tailgate area. I have the crowd pleaser 2.0 and mine never drags

Basically, cut from the rear wheel cut out to the bumper up at an angle. Eliminate about 1/2 of the bumper. Thisi is what I've done to all my bodies because I had the same issue as you have (even with a wheelie bar).

Thanks fellers,, i will try that, I know I was getting tired of spending money on a body and tearing it up in just a couple minutes. Appreciate it.

i reinforce the back end with duct tape, seems to help alot, and does'nt add a whole lot of weight. i've also heard of ppl use the auto exhaust, repair tape from autozone or such...

you could glue plastic washers on the top and bottom of the body where it accepts the mounting posts, also you could get thin plastic mesh and glue it to the underside of the body where they tend to rip apart which would be in the 4 corners. this will give the body some added strength. do this after you paint it of course. I know its not a direct answer to your question but just my ideas on how to get longer life out of your shell.

:$broke:Thanks, Seems to be alot of good ideas. I figured I wasn't the only one tearing bodies up. I liked painting them, but the boss hates me buying them all the time.:slapped:

I keep mine low and tight. Try to keep all the corners from being able to touch the ground alone. Car bodys tend to be the right cut. My wings help to. cant get my back bumper at all. I can keep a body from cracking for about 4-5 months. As long as I don't hit things like bleachers.... It got my last one. Right front edge. 🙁...

keep the body low i guess?
sometimes ill cut nearly the rear section right off the body, so if it drags on a wheelie or hits a bad landing...itll be like a sled perse rather then tearing the azzend off the body.

dunno? it is annoying and expensive.

That's what my problem is, I like doing wheelies, and it just grabs the back corners of the body and flips them up and cracks them right across where the back body posts are. I tried the wheelie bar and thought that would fix it, but to my surprise it still grabs the back corners of the body. I'll try cutting the back corners off a little and see if that helps. Hey do these new body scissors work better than a regular pair of scissors. (I know regular scissors and hobby knives are a pain in the @ss.)
