Alright guys I got my first ever savage up and running its good but it can be better. So I need help starting my new build. There two company's I've been looking at for parts the first one is flm I want to get there extended lcg chassis the prc for some carbon fiber goodies to do a mid tank build. What parts would you recomend? How dose carbonfiber hold up with bashing? It seems like it would be to brittle? Please help me out guys thanks

Wow that's really impressive! But I think for my chassis I'm goin to get flm etended lcg chassis with the skid plate. Then maybe some cf shock towers and a few small t
hings like that. Unless there is a chassis from prc that you recmomend? Wich one have you ran? Is there one that's alittle better than the outher?

Seeing the video from Bankrupter that Scott posted you can see PRC is no joke 4mm of Quasi carbon fiber. Now that being said the FLM TVP's are also strong made from 4.7mm 6061 T6 aluminum.

I really like that extended cf lcg one but how much dose it extened the over all lay out I couldn't find any specs on it?

Naw man. Carbon is one of the strongest elements on the planet and PRC's quasi-weave carbon fiber (dare i say) is the strongest you will find.

Basically comes down to personal preference and how much money you want to spend. The PRC & FLM lcg ext tvps are both extended about 1.5" and are essentially the same design.

you really cant go wrong with either one. if you want awesome & less-expensive, get flm it you want the ultimate and have a few extra bucks get prc.

i have the full set up of prc on my flux including the lcg towers. id recommend that you get the PRC mid-tank set up and tvps of choice.
 
just thought i'd bump in here and say CF is one of the strongest but just remember once it chips... Game over. Personally for bashing I would NEVER spend that kinda money. I'd rather bend a $60 set of tvps, and bend it back if you don't have the cash. Choice is yours bud, Good luck =)
 
Will the prc bolt right up to the flm extended tvp's? And what about shock towers? Should I cf or the flm aluminum one? What is your prefrence?

The plate for the mid tank will bolt up to the Flm tvps. It will come with all the hardware that is needed to do this.. I would stick with the stock towers if i was you..

Then what outher hard ware am I gonna need to get to complete a mid tank? Just the linkages and fuel tank?

What about extended a arms? Any one using these at all I like the flm stuff really nicly machined.
 
just remember 2 things. 1: the more things you make aluminum the weaker something else becomes on your truck. and 2: Its going to get heavy fast, so if you are into big air jumps try to stay C/F or plastic.
 
FLM TVP's are great but I would have gone with PRC Carbon Fiber TVP's hands down with the experience and knowledge. The choice is yours.

+1, i wouldn't go back after buying PRC, but i have ZERO complaints with any of my FLM stuff. I sold it to a bud & its still going strong after going through hell & back.

good luck chipping or damaging the PRC stuff... due to strength, design and how the truck bolts together, i say it cant be done until someone proves me wrong.

a bud & i tried to break the midtank plate at my work & almost ended up with a broken wrist.

Ill disagree about the weight part ..
I have a full FLM mid tank, ext tvp's, skid plate, motor mount, & custom aluminum mid tank for the 250cc tank, all that my truck weights 11.25 pounds, with fuel.

(had to use the stock shocks for the front, broke 2 bladders in the bb's)
 
Has any one made a complete prc cf savage if not I'm gonna save some pennys for a killer cf build!
 
Well guess I'm gonna op for the aluminum extended lcg and do a little powdercoating on it!
 
just because its been done doesnt mean you should do it. CF is a great way to go with these trucks. i have a CF and a FLM truck and its a noticeable difference when i pick em up.
 
So the chassis I'm gonna get is the extended lcg from flm. What am I gonna need to do a mid tank? Is it hard to do?
So far my list is as followed
Flm extented chassis
Flm extended center skid plate
Flm motor plate.
 
mark there are so many different ways to mid tank a truck. here is mine i kept everything between the chassis plates for a cleaner look. i built alot of the pieces to do this tho

No, not hard, its easy.
Aside from the parts you decided on, you need to decide on which tank you want. (ie hellfire 150cc. hotbodies 150cc, ofna 250cc) and i'd recommend a PRC mid-tank set up.

Based on your tank & plate decision, you'll need 1-2 sets of flm servo mounts.
you'll also need the ofna throttle mod for your t/b servo.

then youll need to decide how you want to mount your hump pack & Rx and get a box or 2 to do it.

truck was awesome but run time was short so i jumped on the ofna 250cc bandwagon post #19--> https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8010&page=2

after much "air-time" i felt that the 250cc tank was over-kill in that it made the nose of the truck heavy while it was up in the air. I bought a D8 150cc clunk tank but parted out the nitro before i installed it. I think this tank would have been perfect for me though.
 
Frddyj what kinda of stuff am I goin to need to get to mid tank the d8 clunk style tank? What is the performce I could see with doin a midtank?

Youve got some options here.

1. you could use this plate and keep your steering servo in the stock location, just drill the tank mounts to fit your tank http://www.platinumrcproducts.com/prc%20112.html

2. you could mount your steering servo lcg style to the flm tvp (like i did) and use this plate which gives the option of mounting a Rx box to the plate next to the tank http://www.platinumrcproducts.com/prc%20125.html

3. you can use this one (i used it on my flux) to keep your steer servo in stock location and mount up your tank http://www.platinumrcproducts.com/prc%20194.html

4. Youll need to rework your t/b servo linkage. here is a great thread https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6977&highlight=hirisk

Keep in mind- if you mount your steer servo lcg to the flm tvp, you'll need 2 sets of flm servo mounts. if you mount the servo in the stock location, you'll only need 1 set of servo mounts for the t/b servo.

1. Because your tank will be level with the carb (and not 1/2 below the carb like the stocker), you'll get a consistent gravity-feed and fuel-flow which will result in a more-consistent tune throughout the tank.

2. Youll protect the tank by mounting it inside the tvps. Weve seen many tanks get grenaded when the shock tower crashes into it on a bad landing or tumble.

3. Youll even-out the weight of your truck as the tank will be in the center and not on the left side.

many have mid-tanked their savage. it is a fun mod and will completely change your savage in many ways.

Do you like the cen midtank? With the radio next to it? I like how clean every thing looks.
Could I get link or some sort of direction on the steps you used to complete the bulid along with some pictures please.
