This is for those who haven't or don't want to disassemble their engine. I just think it would help so everyone knows what parts of the engine look like. The camera I used wasn't very good for close ups but you can see the parts anyway. Enjoy.....

Good post... I take it you build your own engines? Is it as difficult as everyone at the track says it is? Everyone I have spoke to at the track ALL recommend buying a brand new engine. A few of them have mentioned they have tried to re-build their own but in the end its cheaper just to buy a new one for 20.00 more.

I'm sure i will attempt to rebuild mine a few times just because I like to build things. And I cant see a tiny Nitro engine being more complicatedly then a 455ci 4-stroke engine. But hey that may be my first mistake thinking like that.

Hey bud sorry for the delayed response. I do rebuild my own engines. I won't say it's hard at all. You just pop the parts in the right order, and there's only one way they fit so it's real hard to mess things up. I normally just replace the piston and the piston sleeve. I've never have to replace the bearings but I would do that as well if need be. Once you take it apart you'll see how simple a nitro engine is. Here is a cross section a a nitro engine, quite simply really....

Ahhhh Air Ram a man of my own cloth! I have a 79 T/A that I built a 455 to a 473 so if you can work on full scale motors there is no reason to not tackle these little ones. Like anything else you still need the proper tools and specs. Good luck! And nice thread FX!!!
