how many gallons on your cb bearings?

Are your gears meshed right?

are your engine plate braces tight?

just goes to show if the mesh is good and no other problems they hold up pretty good.. but i have never ran a modded mill with mine as of yet so that would likely be harder on it!!!

Well said Shaun, gear mesh is gear mesh. My plastic spur survived more than two gallons & now bankrupter runs it behind his ERCM Picco (even grenaded tranny gears with it).

Metal Spur Benefit:

It will stand up to a less-than-100% perfect mesh, cracked motor plate, or other issue MUCH longer than a plastic will.

Ive never seen anyone here grenade a Steel Spur with HPI Racing clutch bell. But the Metal spur will destroy a 'hardended' bell caz the steel's just not strong enough.

I know freddy and many others suggest running steel spur gears and there isn't anything wrong with that advice. As for me I run a plastic one. It's been a long time but I think it's lasted over 12 gallons now. I like the plastic spur gear especially for newbs because it lets you know if something is wrong. It makes you learn how to mesh a spur gear properly and can also reveal any clutch problems you may be having. Nothing wrong with steel but I lean towards plastic.

its awesome. make sure you use a hpi RACING clutch bell with it.

agreed..... buy it once buy it for life.

I ran that jus to try. I smoked the slipper pad off it and threw it out ... But it didnt save any parts that for sure.
