Stripped hex Savage 3.5

Just bought a second hand 3.5 Savage. The previous owner had ditched the 3.5 engine and replaced it with the 4.6. The truck now has soo much power and today I managed to strip on of the hexes (in the rim) so I am thinking about converting to 17mm hexes.

Which is the best conversion kit?

I am using the stock HPI 17mm hexes and have yet to have a problem...

Will they fit my 3.5 Savage aswell without any modifications?

Just noticed that there are two options. What is the purpose of HPI 87229 if the 17mm hexes (HPI 86804) fits directly on the Savage 3.5?

The first link is what I am using, the second if you notice replaces the nut and flange washer and axle with a different nut, both will fit with no mods needed but in truth the first set is just fine for most normal uses...

Just noticed another problem. Mainly all wheel/tire combos for 17mm hexes has atlest a 12mm center bore but the drivcup on my 3.5 Savage is only 8 or 9mm (which is was most 14mm hex rims use for centre bore)

Is it still ok to use a rim with 12mm centre bore?

as long as you use the flanged nut to attach the wheel it will be fine.....
