==================================== WALKING NEEDLE ===========================================
On my 4.6,
I've been able to really get good proformance out of it lately with the settings I've made, but my third needle that supplies
the main fuel inlet has been "walking" it's way clockwise as I run the motor.

It should be more snug in the threads in my opinion.
Question is:
Can anyone reccommend the best way to keep it from walking from my adjustment setting?

I thought of teflon pipe-thread tape, blue thread-lock, and a that ultra silicon sealant stuff but, I'm just non sure about it.

============================Any suggestions are truely appreceiated.===================================

i would go with the pipe sealant tape before the others.
i never had this problem but that is what i would go for, its not messy like silicone can be, and you don't want that in the system, and threadlock is not so effective if you break the seal, ie retuning.

I haven't pull the the needle out yet so I don't even know if there's an o-ring invoved...

It's a K4.6. It's the third needle that your supposed to leave alone...lol

It's on the oposite side of the lsn.
I'll pull the needle and see whats going on with it's tightness.

And hey...
thanks for your responses, Gzus11 and jamiesavage.

I like the teflon tape idea myself for the same reasons.

Boy... It sure was wierd running at first until I finally noticed what the heck was going on.
The screw managed to walk a few good turns clockwise and made the truck idol low and rough or freeze at supper high rpms.

Nothing in between. It was unexspected to say the least. I hope I didn't harm the life of the motor before I was able to stop the little mongrul.

On my surefire I had the Mid range needle back all the way out and I lost it. Thats what your needle is called, (mid range). I would put teflon take on it. NEVER use thread lock on the needles,. Also, you can try some green slime, I use both the teflon and green slime on all me needles!

GREEN SLIME !

All right, mega.
We are talking about the K4.6 , correct? It's the brass screw opposite side of the lsn.
It's supposed to be set flush with the insertion surface.

And thanks for the advice from you and Site Jester.

I have some green slime from my road sedan TC3 1/10 team kit. I like the idea
of the teflon/green slime combo for the hsn an lsn's. I take it that the slime helps prevent
the teflon from tearring up from back and forth needle adjusting.

I never really planned to try any kind on thread -lock products.
They were just a consideration.

I'll keep ya'll posted on the out come of this thread.

Just the other day I noticed my mid-range needle was leaking when I was priming it. I had to re seal it. It was a real pain in the butt also, because the truck had to be re-tuned. took like 4 tanks of fuel, once you start messing w/ the mid-range, YOU HAVE TOO mess w/ the lsn.

I Agree... I figure the flush needle guide is really a saving grace in that situation.

My needle was walking inwards to a extreem lean sinario.
When I backed it back outward to flush, It also felt real loose and likely leaks at it's seat.

Your sts carb is something I haven't had to deal with yet. It's still new ground for me.
I'll get one soon enough I suppose. Hopefully, my carb will settle in much easier.

I went to my LHS and odered the the o-ring in question. And of course, it's packaged with
a needle I likely don't need at this time. Do you think I should replace the needle also?

I just replaced my 21 engine on my MGT with a 4.6 Pro from Team Associated.
The pro was missing an o-ring on flute of the carb right out of the box. I got them to ship
the o-ring which is packaged with 3 of the remainning seals needed for a carb.

The main intake flute o-ring, midrange o-ring, and two needle valve seats for the low and
high speed needles.

I wonder if any of these parts are interchagable duplicates of HPI's carb parts?
If so, I think that would be something we all would like to know about.

Do you or anyone else know about that posibillity?
edit: Upon reviewing this thread, Mega confirmed the compatibillity of the Tean Associated O-rings.

Not really 100% sure about that. I would think so tho.

I ordered a o ring kit for my surefire .32 and I couldn't get the mid range o ring on the damn needle for nothing. it was WAY to tight and I broke 4 of them getting them on.. So I said screw it and replaced the o ring w/ a stock hpi .25 carbs o ring. still running that today.

got cha, Prob fixed Thanks Puckamahow.
By the way.... Ya got a first name?....
Didn't want to call ya "Pucka" for short..lol
