recently recieved my savage 2nd hand started ok first time took a few minutes tho. when running cut out few times, then wouldnt start at all whats the best thing i can do so it starts easier then tneit my self?

It would help if we had a little more info about where your needles are, but you could try leaning the bottom end a little and/or raising the idle a bit. Just try small increments though. That may help get it fired up, then you can make more adjustments once it gets warm.

yep. when my 4.6 was new i turned the hsn about a full turn in from flush and then turn in the lsn 1/4 turn in at a time till it would start easily and stay running.

then break in.

then tune using videos or better yet robin's thread.

you gotta get her to run before you can break in & tune.

cheers but i bought it 2nd hand when arrived was running but not too great so se all needles flush, managed to get it started but wouldnt tick over at all after a while it did maybe it wa just cold, then i did as tuning link adjusted hsn prob about 1 turn still seemed boggy at bottom end is that too rich or lean?

Too rich if you give it throttle and the motor bogs. Too lean and the motor should rev really quickly but "cackle" like it's not getting enough fuel. Also it should be up to running temp before looking for these signs. When my motor is cold and the tank is full it can take a while to warm up and it will act rich but once it gets hot then it runs better.

so do i still need to lean itup with the hsn still? what about the lsn?

Like I said, if it is bogging down on you while running at low rpm, it is probably too rich. Try leaning the LSN some and see if it idles better and gets good throttle response. Try to get the motor to operating temps if you can before doing too many changes. Use 1/12 turns at a time when making your adjustments. I would leave the HSN where it is if you can get it running, just to avoid leaning it too much before you really know how it is going to run once it is warmed up.
