What cause the spur gear in a Savage flux to get burning hot?

most commonly in high tourque electeric cars the slipper pad slips too much causing the friction that will eventualy cause the spur gears demise.make sure your spring loaded nut on center of spur gear is tightened all the way up see if that helps..although a small amount of slip is good as it takes away some of the huge strain on the rest of the drive train.

The spur can also get hot from the heat from the motor. Motor transfers heat to shaft the pinion then spur.
