Hi guys,

Had my truck for many years now (probably 5-6 years), and i have been repairing it as it has broken down from
different "accidents".. 🙂
Now, it has sat in my garage for probably 2-4 years, broken. And now i thought i should fix it, so it atleast is in working condition. But i have some questions, that you experts probably can answer. 🙂

- It has the roto start, but i would like to change to pull start (i think, is there any reason i should not? The constant need to have charged battery bothers me the most). What do i need to rebuild it to pullstart? Is it enpugh to just buy the pullstart, or do i need some internal parts that does not fit from the rotostart?

-When it comes to aftermarket parts, witch brand is considered to be the best? (Read many places that Integy isnt the one to go for if u want quality)

My truck is mostly stock, exept for the brakedisc. But a few things i would like to change, to hopefully make it better. I'm not looking for expensive upgrades, but things that are better then stock. (Let me know what you think):
-Clutch (has never been changed), witch would you recomend?
-A batterypack

-As i understand, the servos isnt the best either, but these are expensive, so think i will upgrade them at a later point.
But the steering isnt good, when i lift the truck, they can move around 1 cm in both directions i think..
I guess i need to control the servo saver, and maybe tighten it?

Let me know what you think, and every good tip is great! 🙂

Fredrik

@Alpejohn

There are a ton of upgrades available for the Savage, but most of them I'd wait until you break stock components first unless you're just wanting to spend money right away.

If you're looking for servo upgrades the Hitec HS-7955TG or the Savox 1256 make great steering servo's for the Savage's large tires. The Venom hump pack (1504) is probably one of the most popular aftermarket battery hump packs.

Thanks @WoodiE !
I haven't actually broke any parts that could be upgraded.. Yet.. 🙂 But the motor mount, and the plate the motor sits on, i have broken 2 times!
No idea how i have done it though.. First time it lande upside down so thats understandeble. But second i have no idea.

My shocks are completly shot by the way, leaking oil, and most of them doesnt have any at all. So they need to be upgraded soon. 🙂
And the servos, i bet those would make the truck much better, as i have read that those are pretty bad stock. But they are a bit expensive, so think ill wait with those. 🙂 But is it analog or digital i need? Just to be clear.. 🙂 And, does those fit both steering and throttle? 🙂

But regarding the clutch, if i buy a upgraded one, will it fin inside the stock clutch bell? (is thats what its called? 😛 )
Is there any particular i should buy? 🙂

Thanks!

Do you run an engine cage? If not, you should. Cheap and easy protection when ya land on your lid. I'd recommend the stock savage x setup.

For your shocks leaking you may need new o-rings. But first I would try a sealer/lubricant on the o-rings. I did this with my leaky shocks and have not lost a drop since. Here is what I used, green slime.

As far as the clutch, it will depend on what you are looking at. Alot of people simply go to an aluminum clutch shoe setup, those fit right in the stock setup. HPI make a set, as do many other vendors. If you are looking at upgrading the clutch bell or spur gear I'd recommend Robinson Racing.

Thanks X!
I have the stock HPI cage mounted, both times i crashed. 🙂
I think some of my shocks are broken too, the plastic has cracked. So i probably just gonna upgrade them. 🙂
