I rebuilt a Lrp .28 Spec 3 that a friend gave me i guess the piston just wore out the sleeve was fine i could just about push the whole piston through the sleeve. I bought a Lrp .28 Spec 2 of eBay a while ago that came with extra piston and sleeve that were already used so i used just the piston on the spec 3 it has really good compression. The truck now runs like a raped ape first time i got to mess with it for a while without trying to keep it running. Only thing i did was let it idle for a tank with a little bit of throttle. But since i rebuilt the motor I'm wondering if should still break in the motor?

I'm no engine expert but i would have to say yes it would be a good idea to go through break in again.

If it were me, I would heat cycle it for 1 tanks then take it easy for the next 3 tanks.

That's an old trick if you have multiples of the same engine, once one dies, take a different piston that fits a little better and use it. You should take it easy for the first little while to let the new piston seat itself into the sleeve, as long as there isn't a pile of pinch you could probably go for performance after a 1/4 gallon.

I agree at least go easy for a couple tanks. I know on bigger cars the piston and sleeve need to wear in together so when they put new pistons in an engine they scour the sleeve with a fine sanding tool, I forgot the term for this process but it allows the new piston the seat better with the sleeve, I would imagine our small nitros would benefit from from "re-seating" time as well

OK thanks guys ill leave the settings at stock and take it easy for a few tanks. Now since this is the best motor that has ran in this truck what can i do to keep it running this way? Like keeping it a BDC. Also i had HPI send me a SF-5 servo the guy said he sent it out 6 days ago when do you think ill receive it ill and will it come through the mail or FedEx?

It will be Fed Ex and HPI will give you a tracking number if you ask them for it. They are in southern california so depending on how he sent it the time for delivery will vary.
