Hi guys,

I was wondering if you could give me a starting point for my shock springs and oil. After tearing apart my X that I got a few months ago, I've found that some of the shocks were empty, so I'll be rebuilding them. I figured it may be a good time to tune the shocks a bit. They're the stock shocks. I mostly run on rough dirt lots, and we usually bring a ramp for about 6 to 7 foot jumps. I like to keep my stocks fairly soft, but not to mushy. Stock isn't too bad, but I'd like it a bit firmer. Thanks

I use 30wt oil and stock springs on my aluminum threaded body shocks and I like it pretty well but I have the benefit of being able to adjust my spring tension. If you want them a bit stiffer you could try 40wt oil and changing the piston to one with less holes. I haven't tried different springs so I've got no suggestions there. There are triple-rate springs that some people here use though. Someone else will chime in though.

well the stock fluid isnt great anyway lol I'm running 35 wt silicone shock oil in my stock shocks and find its just about perferct "not to stiff-not to soft" and the hpi purple springs are a stiffer spring as well this is the setup i run......

they look like the hpi alumin threaded shocks.. can grab them on ebay for around $90.00 part # is HPI A712

Oh, of course, I didn't mean you should order them from HPI lol. I just wanted you to see the official site info for them. HPI always has really high prices on their site, apparently on purpose. I heard it was because they encourage people to buy from their dealers rather than direct from the company.

You'll like the shocks, I do. I would like to have the benefit of big bores but I got my set free so I can't complain lol. Plus I wish the Big Bores had threaded bodies. I don't know why they don't make them that way!
