Shock set up

Finally purchased some hpi bb shocks,i was reading some past posts and in one of them it said compress shock then cap them how far should i compress them,also what would 40 wt be to thick to start with,and are they going to make the truck sit high or does it lower the truck some what,reason i ask yhis is my standard shocks have been moded to sit lower,i know this are proberly silly questions but any help would be great

i did 30 weight oil cause i read people on the forum use that and i like how it sits with the arms almost level and i also run the 1.6t pistons

If you want them to sit lower than replace the BBs shafts with hellfire shafts.

I would start with 30wt first.

Also 1.6 pistons are a good starter.

I run 35w in my big bores and love it! it doesnt bottom as easy and i like how it rides.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think which oil you use will affect how high or low the truck will sit. I think it only affects your shock's rebound/damping effect, or in other words, how fast the shock can move up and down when reacting to bumps. I run 30wt for bashing and have no problems with it.

i run 1.6T on my BB's with 30WT... recoils great.

i think you are right the thing that affects ride height is springs and preload clips.
