So I'm breaking in my dads axial .28. I'm still on the first tank, problem is the engine keeps overheating and stalling out. When I say over heating I mean 260-260 degrees fahrenheit. My only thought is an air leak but I sealed the engine already. As it gets hotter it it makes a sound like "raaaa raaa raaa raaa" and then stalls. You know the sound your truck makes right when it is about to run out of fuel? That is how it sounds. I how this makes sense I'm typing it in a hurry. Please help me out guys I'm stumped.:duh:

your running way to lean especialy for break in .. i say make sure your needles are set to break in factory settings.. witch i think are all flush but check manual to be sure then is should run really cool at idle ,,like 180-205 some wheres around there i think is good..

sidewinder 30%
real mccoy mc-8
75 degrees outside

It stalled out at 220 degrees I have a feeling the fuel just can't get to the engine. It sounds like I'm running on an almost empty fuel tank.

I'm also getting absolutely no mist coming out of the exhaust

I've ruled the carb, needle o-rings, and engine head out. I'mm calling axial on monday.

maybe you should reset your engine needles to it's factory setting or lean the engine fule mixture some more maybe a leek from the fule lins check them and check the glow plug you are using in your car i think it should be an hpi R5 glow plug ore something like it also check the fule u are using i think 20-25% is good for you engine

Hmmm weird. What is your needle settings at? I would set to flush and see what happens or if you are already at flush, back it out just a tad more and see if it changes anything.

ok i had this trouble with my axial .28 during break in to reset the needles back to factory settings and the factory settings are flush on the mid range needle the high side needle should be flush with grove here is a pic to explain the high side needle grove the red lines in this pic shows u the grove that the bottom of the high side needle should be flush with it and the blue lines are showing u mid range needle should be flush and the low side needle should be flush
you might have to go clockwise on your idle screw very little at a time to make it idle once you have them back to factory u might have to go counterclockwise on the high side needle if it starts getting hot during break in and once broken in u should be running about 250
I use Byron's 30% fuel and a hpi r4 plug in mine and if your woundering how much fuel i have through mine its little over 2 gallons in little over a mounth and if u have anymore trouble don't be affraid to ask

I've had that problem with several Axials. I've had to rebuild the carbs, I think they have someone with fat fingers putting them together cuz they keep messing up o-rings. I agree, see what Axial will do for ya.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I called Axial and told to screw the hsn in all the way then back it out 3 full turns. Then set the lsn flush and back it out 2 full turns. It fired up on the first pull. It is now on it's 10th tank of fuel.

great to hear that....
have a nice run fx and don't be afraid to ask for help any time my freind we are all ready for help

don't mean to hi jack but i would like a little clarification, is Axial saying the base lsn setting is flush or 2 turns out?

Your not hijacking at all. The factory setting for the lsn is flush but Axial told me to richen it up 2 full turns. Worked like a charm. I had no idea I had to richen it up that much.
