Here's my favorite tool, really came in handy for almost all the custom machining I did. My drill press comes in second. 🙂 Dremel third.

Well, that should be enough to start things off, pictures are worth a thousand words, right? If you have any question, feel free to ask. I'll be happy to answer them. :FarleyParty:

Nice work. I read all about it on the other site before. Thanks for coming over here and WELCOME to the forum!

I guess HPI's ear's were ringing, look what I got in my inbox today...Sounds promising, hee,hee,hee...

From "Unnamed" source at HPI...

Robb,

Wow, that is a pretty neat design, great job! You truly have a passion for the hobby. I will forward your link on to others in the building to see. We have often thought of using a lay-down engine design like that and who knows you might see it appearing on a vehicle of ours soon. 😉 Thanks again!

Thanks guys, maybe i can squeeze my(big head) way into the R/D department, Oh how nice that would be, can you say "Dream Job"! That email made my day, I'm feeling pretty good right now!

After an email like that I would need a cigarette lol

It's really cool that HPI took notice of your work and gave you some props for it. Good luck on landing that dream job !!

+1 on the cig and a cigar matter of fact!!
Congrats on the recognition!!
Way to go HPI for looking at what your customers do to their rigs!!!

HINT....HINT...HPI that's a design I would buy! 3 if you made them...today! One to race....one to bash...one to jump!
lcg extended to race...lcg extended to bash...lcg standard length to jump!

Tatter- It weighs in right now approx. 10.2lb2(4.7kg) there are a few areas I can shave yet to bring it down a little more.

jcam54- Thanks man, I sure hope HPI considers(if not already building) this Style of racer. They would have the market on this style of truck. Not much to modify, all they have to do is tip the engine over and there you have it. 🙂 I bet the more we(Savage forums) ask for it the better the chances will be. They seem to cater to the customers needs(wants), more than other companies. So start sending them mail or call them. Bug them till they make one! lol

Hey guys, haven't been around lately, work is busier than ever. Must win lottery and play for the rest of my life. Got a chance to play this weekend and got some Video. It's got the 4.6 in it now, which is much better than the 4.1 that used to be in it. I ordered the Axial 29RR, should be here any day now, that should bring it up to competitive truggy standards. I will try to enter a race in downtown Tokyo June 8, we'll see how it goes 🙂

Japan, any way you can possibly get some close ups of how you mounted and installed the throttle/brake linkage? I'm thinking about possibly building a racer using your design, if you don't mind, in the future.

Very Very nice. 2 things that would worry me is the center drive shaft angle and the head being exposed to side damage. The head might not see anymore damage than on a standard mount but the drive shaft angle would be my concern. It isn't as if there is articulation there but that is a steeper angle than you usually see. I do like it though and I'm sure I know who at HPI saw it. There are a few of them members here. Very out of the box and a very cool truck. A++++ on it.

i hate to dig up an old thread but this truck is worth the second look . talk about the ultimate race savy . hpi definatly needs to do something like this. great work on a cool truck
