hi fairly new to rc world . bought a savage 5.9 new in the box . got in the back garden to break it in .. noticed servo smoking . so obviously turned off the car . replaced the servo for a an old hobao one i have . now the brake and the throttle and opposites . i have tried the swich on transmiter which has no effect .. say if you fail safe it its doing the opposite and opening throttle not put the brake on.. what have i done ?? cheers ste 🙂

You seemingly need to reverse the channel to get your servo to do what it needs to do.
But.
Check to make sure you haven't changed the orientation of this little L shaped linkage/lever:

If you inadvertently rotate this 90° and switch the throttle linkage into where the servo linkage clevis is supposed to go, and the servo clevis into where the throttle linkage is supposed to go - you'll end up with the throttle opening as the brakes are applied. Seemingly with the servo operating at odds with what you need it to do. 😝
I'm not going to assume anything. So check this mechanism first before you rush to use your radio to reverse anything.
If your linkage and mechanisms are right, also check you have your servo plugged in the right way round. Most servos (not all depending on combination of brand, plug type and receiver) just don't work unless they are plugged in the correct way.
Plugging a servo in backward into the receiver (swapping signal and ground) usually just results in the servo not working but causes no damage. However, reversing the power (positive and negative) to a servo, by swapping those two wires, will likely cause damage and burn out the servo and potentially the receiver.
The fact that your previous throttle servo burnt out makes me think that it may have been constantly cranking the brakes.
Let us know what you find......👍
