Hi all I’m new here and just dusted of my Rv cars. I’m looking o do the pull start conversion how do I know which one I need? Also what’s the best glow plug to use TIA

Need to know specifically what engine you have. HPI had a 4 or 5 they put in various savage's, maybe more.

Hi thank you for your reply my knowledge on tv cars is very slim how will I find this out? Will it say on the engine itself? Thanks

The side of the crank case usually has something on it. Take a photo of it and post it on here. I'm sure someone will recognize it.

Ok perfect thank you I will get a picture

Here are some side pics

Sorry, meant a picture of the engine itself. Off the truck would be best, but at least try to angle the camera to show the side plate of the engine and another to show the top of the engine.

Kind of looks like the grey head one, nitrostar F4.6:

Should be able to figure out the parts you need there. Guessing you just need the pull starter as the roto on that uses a OWB.

Unless you have the center mounted roto start vs the one off the the side:

The center one uses a different starter shaft in the engine that has a flat spot on it and doesn't use a OWB. If that's what you have, then you will need the proper starter shaft from the first link without the flat spot, the OWB (one way bearing) and the starter housing.

Cheers again for that sorry I got thinoics wrong ?. That’s does look like the engine I have got as for the root start the actual hole the starting rod goes in is of set on the side of he toro start plate and it’s a ball with a pin on each side of it one at 3 o’clock and one at 9 o’clock say.

Struggling to get a pic of the side plate this is from the top of the engine.

If your running 20% nitro, probably the medium. If higher nitro, the cold may work better.
Sorry again mate to pester you I have the back end of the savage of as looking to replace the rotor start with a pull and there is no marking of what actual engine it is I know we thought 4.6 is there a way to be entirely sure?
