Had a heck of a good time playing with my new Savage X yesterday. Fueled her up, went to start it again, and now it doesn't want to turn over. I put the RotoStart on it, try to turn it over, and it just spins freely. Anyone encounter this problem, and know what the fix could be? Thanks!

Did you put the piston at BDC (bottom dead center) after your last run?

It probably locked up on you badly by being left at TDC (top dead center) after your last run.

my buddy checked that, and said that wasn't the problem. one way bearing possibly?

that would be your one way bearing.. leaving it at TDC does not lock it up only hurts the pinch as it cools...

Puckamahow beat me lol

yes almost definately the one way bearing, but it may not be shot, sometimes if you spill alot of fuel or in my case the exhaust gasket was spitting fuel all over the place it will make it slip so i took it out and cleaned it up and of course fixed the gasket and it hasn't slipped since lol

P.S... ive also heard that using traxxas fuel has lead to owb slipping as well, I'm assuming because of the high oil content!!but thats only what i've heard so it may not be a fact!!

where can i find instructions on how to get to the bearing and have a look at it? it could be the exhaust gasket too, a new tuned pipe was just put on it yesterday.

well all i was getting at is mine was leaking bad and the fuel ran down into places it shouldnt have been which caused it to slip!! i could see that it was leaking pretty easily so maybe check around and see if theres alot of fuel around and i might have said it in a earlier post but welcome to the forum my friend!!

You will have to remove the engine to get at the roto start back plate. Remove the three screws and then the back plate. The OWB will be sat on the end of the shaft sticking out of the back of the engine or just inside the roto back plate. Take out the OWB and give it a good clean with WD 40 and blow out the excess with an air line. Check it over for any signs of damage i.e. cracks in the casing or missing rollers. Then re-lube the OWB with some light grease (the thinner the better). Before you refit the bearing make sure you inspect the shaft it fits on (the one sticking out of the engine back plate). Make sure is has know signs of damage, it should be completely smooth ! Then fit everything back together, and it should work.

so i bought a new OWB today...was about to start pullin' my truck apart to replace it, thought i'd better try it just one more time to make sure, and she fired up...so, now the truck works, and i've got a spare OWB!

well that didn't last long! went to go play today, and she wouldn't fire up, so i did end up replacing the OWB. got some experience taking my truck apart and putting it back together, so that was definitely a bonus!!
